Dear Dr. Sanjay...
Regarding Weight Control
Weight-Control is a complex
subject. It's not just the
Calories we consume, but
how the body uses them...
We have more bacterial cells
in our gut, than we have in
our entire body. Ten to 100 times more ...
The food drives of these
Bacteria stimulate the Vagus Nerve, and
Doctors are great on
germ theory and synthesizing
Insulin by using genetically
modified e-coli...
But they pooh-pooh nutrition
and vitamins and minerals
and herbal remedies, and our
Gut Microbiota, and it's influence
on our metabolism...
Get this:
Obese mice become normal
weight, when their gut bacteria
is replaced by bacteria from
normal weight mice.
Normal weight mice become
Obese when their gut bacteria
is replaced by gut bacteria from
Obese mice.
Two predominant forms of
Bacteria, Firmicutes and Bactoridetes, and their population ratio
make the difference.
In humans:
Fat parents transfect their
children.
Thin parents transfect their
children.
Birds of a feather flock together!
Chuck
"The first evidence for a link between the gut microbiota and obesity was from studies of germ-free mice. Transplanting gut microbes from conventionally raised mice into germ-free mice increased the transplants’ fat content and insulin resistance levels even with reduced food intake, which proved that gut microbes can increase the accumulation of adipose tissue in the host[19]. Furthermore, 16S rRNA gene sequencing showed that obesity may be associated with two dominant bacterial phyla: Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes. The gut microbiota of obese mice showed a 50% decrease in the abundance of Bacteroidetes and a proportional increase in Firmicutes[20]. Turnbaugh et al[21] further confirmed that the Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio increased significantly in obese mice and proved that the capacity of the microbiota in obese mice to harvest energy from the diet was stronger. Similar phenomena occur in humans; for example, the proportion of Firmicutes in the gut of obese children was increased, and the proportion of Bacteroidetes was decreased"
RESULTS
After the search, we summarize some characteristics of the gut microbiota of obese patients. Many results suggest that an increased Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio at the phylum level is an important feature of the gut microbiota in obesity. The family Christensenellaceae and the genera Methanobacteriales, Lactobacillus, Bifidobacteria, and Akkermansia are usually considered as probiotics, and their relative abundance is often inversely associated with obesity. Gut microbiota regulates obesity by regulating energy absorption, central appetite, fat storage, chronic inflammation, and circadian rhythms. Finally, the effects of genetic and environmental factors on gut microbiota in obesity are discussed.

Re: 1947 Silvertone Schematics
My Dad had one of the
500 Silvertone 8127 Cabinet Am/Fm/Sw1/Sw2/phono/wire-recorders.
It was amazing!
Dad died in '64, but this
"Phonograph"
Served our family well
beyond 2000...
The phono changer was
replaced twice, but the
Tube Amp and radio
never failed !
The wire recorder and timer
still functioned, although
the wire motor made a clunky sound when it ran.
I took the fiberboard off the
back, and discovered that
Sears had glued a full set
of Schematics
inside the cabinet !
The replacement phonos
were stereo, plugged through a Y cable into
the Mono Amp.
In the '80's I was an Audio Salesman, and I bought a Sanyo
Tape Deck for my parents at Christmas.
I built a double-pole double-throw switch box, so I could fit
the (Stereo) Sanyo into the Silverstone's (Mono)
Phono Compartment.
The switch selected Tape, or Phono.
In later years, I bought my
Mom a Phillips AM/FM CD/Cassette mini stereo,
that fit inside the phono
cabinet.
I even ran an audio line
from my Win95 computer
from my old room to the
Basement, and up to
the Line-in of the Phillips,
so Dad's Silvertone could
play edited and equalized
Mp3's of Cassette tapes.
That "Phonograph" was
an important part of
our lives !
