Wrestling had never been about the money for Matt Jackson. It had always been the one thing in the world that he loved the most. There was nothing that had ever made him feel quite as affirmed as being in the ring, be it alone or with Nick as a tag team. It was the one profession that he wanted to persue for the rest of his life.
And yet, it was an industry that had currently left him with twenty dollars to his name and a broken heart.
Impact Wrestling hadn't known what to do with himself and Nick, or as they had been called by the company for the last few years, Max and Jeremy Buck. Matt 𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐰 that if they just had the chance, he and Nick could be popular. All they needed was that chance to do something great. Sitting in the car on a late night drive back home to Rancho Cucamonga, tired and defeated, Matt wasn't sure if that chance was ever going to come.
Nick adjusted his grip on the steering wheel, eyes glancing down at the fuel gauge before glancing back at the road, "We're gonna need gas soon..."
"We push it as far as we can," Matt mumbled, his own eyes cast out the window. The lights of other cars passing in the night breifly illuminated his face and the tears that stained his cheeks, "Just a few more miles til home..."
"What do we do, Matty?"
"I told you, Nick. We-"
"Not about the gas," Nick cleared his throat and in that moment, Matt realized that he wasn't the only one who had been crying, "I don't wanna give this up. I like what we do. I like being in the ring..."
Matt sat up as a heavy sigh left his lips, "They didn't know what to do with us."
"No, they didn't know what to do with Max and Jeremy," Nick shook his head, "They never got to know 𝙪𝙨."
Nick had a point. The world had yet to get to know Matt and Nick Jackson. If they had that chance, they could change the world, "You're brilliant Nick."
"I am?"
Matt laughed, running a hand through his long, brown hair, "More or less."
"...how?"
"They 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 know us, the real us, so you know what we do? WE show them. Who know how to markest us better than us, right? We keep doing this. We put every inch of heart and passion into just being us."
"Nick and Matt against the world?" his younger brother grinned.
"Nah. Matt and Nick against the world. Older brother privileges."
