Dadasaheb Phalke is an Indian film producer, director, and screenwriter. Raja Harishchandra was his debut film that was released in 1913 and is now known as India's first full-length feature film. For his immense contribution to the making of cinema, he is dearly known as The Father of Indian Cinema.

- Phalke Ji has made 95 feature-length films and 27 short films in his 19 years of career. Some of his most notable work includes MohiniBhasmasur (1913), SatyavanSavitri (1914), Lanka Dahan (1917), Shri Krishna Janma (1918), and KaliyaMardan (1919).
- He is not only a filmmaker but also a painter and sculptor. Dadasaheb trained himself from Sir J. J. School of Art, Bombay. Later, he also did a course in Oil painting and Watercolor painting.
- Later DadasahebPhalke went to Germany to learn the art of filmmaking. He learned everything about the attest technologies used in those days.
- DadasahebPhalke used to experiment with a variety of special effects. His most famous usage of mythological themes and trick photography really made the experience of the audience awestruck.
- Did you know that DadasahebPhalke himself built the set for Raja Harishchandra? His wife SaraswatibaiPhalke helped him with the costume design department. She also cooked food for the actors and his son acted in the movie.
- The name of his biography is The Silent Film. That book is written by SharayuPhalkeSummanwar, the great-grandniece of DadasahebPhalke.
- The highest honor in Indian Cinema is the DadasahebPhalke Award that is given by the Government of India for anyone’s lifetime contribution towards Cinema in India.
