Checklists are typically used by cleaning companies. The notion that they serve as physical proof of a task’s completion ensures nothing is missed.
Checklists provide an element of responsibility in addition to helping keep a record of things. In addition, employees are more comfortable using them.
On an ad hoc visit to the site, supervisors can inspect items after staff members have checked them off to ensure standards are maintained.

Cleaning the office kitchen
Hygiene is more important than ever in offices. It has always been essential to maintain a clean working environment, but now, the importance of hygiene is greater than ever.
The importance of cleaning is even greater in areas where staff prepare food or drinks. Staff need to clean surfaces, crockery, cutlery, cups, and anything else they use regularly.
A clean office not only improves the health of employees, but also motivates them.
Checklist for kitchen cleaning
Here’s a basic checklist for cleaning the office kitchen. Although the information won’t apply to every type of kitchen, it should give you an idea of what’s involved.
In addition to a daily checklist, we’ll have a weekly checklist, as some tasks will not need to be completed every day.
A checklist for cleaning your kitchen every day
Daily tasks or more than one per day include:
- A surface or a floor
- Taps and sinks
- Plates, mugs, and cutlery
- Paper towels and bins
- Dishwasher and other appliances
- Coffee maker or kettle
- Microwave ovens
- Floors and surfaces
- All surfaces should be cleaned and wiped down. To remove dirt and stains, you should first use your cleaning product with virucidal protection. It could be your daytime cleaner.
The use of a virucidal spray that is environmentally friendly is recommended whenever possible.
Debris and dirt should also be removed from floors. Either a mop or a vacuum can be used.
Use your favorite cleaning solution to mop the floor if it can be mopped. You should also make sure all corners and awkward areas are cleaned, as well as high traffic areas.
Lastly, you should clean all high touch points in the kitchen with an antibacterial solution once you are done.
Taps and sinks
Regularly cleaning sinks and taps is a good idea. Cleaning products with antibacterial and virucidal properties should be applied.
Your cleaning team should perform this at least once per day but it would be best if this could be done regularly throughout the day.
The following tableware is available: mugs, plates, and cutlery
Cleaning will be required for all dirty mugs, plates, and cutlery. Often, staff are expected to clean up after themselves, but not everyone can be that way. Use the dishwasher in your office kitchen, as the water is hotter and you can do other things while it’s running. Otherwise, you should wash everything with your cleaning product and rinse.
Paper towels and bins
Keeping your bins empty daily will prevent bad odors and overfilling. In the kitchen, restock the paper towel dispenser if necessary.
As soon as the bin liner has been replaced or filled, both should be cleaned using antibacterial solution.
Buying a refrigerator
Make sure any milk or food in the office kitchen is up to date and safe by wiping it down from top to bottom. Daily cleaning teams are usually in charge of this task.
Appliances and dishwashing machine
You should run the dishwasher through a cleaning cycle after you have washed the mugs, plates, and cutlery in the office kitchen. The out-of-the-way surfaces should be wiped down with antibacterial solution after the dishwasher has been cleaned.
Cookers and microwaves should also be cleaned thoroughly every day if they are located in the kitchen. Wipe them down after every use to prevent food debris buildup.
Kettle or machine for making coffee
You should turn off any kettles or coffee machines, empty them, and clean them before using. Depending on the type of kettle or coffee machine, the exact cleaning method will vary, but at the very least, be sure to remove old filters and empty old water before using. Use your antibacterial solution to wipe down the area.
Cleaning checklist for the office each week
Tasks that are too time-consuming for everyday cleaning or are otherwise not necessary can be included in weekly cleaning tasks.
Included are:
- Making sure there is no old food in the cupboards and refrigerators
- Wringing out window sills, cleaning windows, and wiping down skirting boards
- Areas with high traffic should be sanitized or deep cleaned
- Appliances that are thoroughly cleaned
- Looking for old food in cupboards and refrigerators
- Sometimes you have to manage the refrigerators and cupboards for offices that manage them themselves.
Make sure all the contents of cupboards and fridges are up to date and do not have expired foods or milk.
All surfaces, including handles, including shelves, door drawers, and drawers, should be cleaned.
Wringing out window sills, cleaning windows, and wiping down skirting boards
Cleaning window sills, windows and skirting boards in office kitchens is a precautionary process, but it is worthwhile since these surfaces may harbor germs.
To thoroughly clean surfaces, clean all surfaces with your antibacterial solution of choice and ensure there is no dust, dirt, or other debris present.
Areas with high traffic should be sanitized or deep cleaned
You may need to deep clean certain areas of the office kitchen in question. For this to happen, you could dedicate extra time to cleaning during the workweek.
For larger kitchens, this may mean deep cleaning surfaces, floors, corners, and hard-to-reach places once a week.
Your staff will be reassured, and everything will be as clean and sterile as possible.
Appliances that are thoroughly cleaned
You should deep clean the office’s kitchen appliances at least once a week, including the microwave and cooker.
The racks and trays should be removed, the interior surfaces cleaned, rust and degradation looked for, and the appliance thoroughly cleaned.
