Santorini Quartzite Stones:
Santorini Quartzite is a Gold and grey quartzite stone for your kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. Get these stylish stones that give you a versatile look. Sealing is recommended once a year if the quartzite slab is dense and less porous. Though they are scratch-resistant, avoid using abrasive cleaners on the surface, which eventually will wear out the polish. After the counters are wiped with soap solution, dry the surface clean to avoid moisture settling.
Is Quartzite Surface the Right Material for You?
The fact that a homeowner chooses dense sandstone, true quartzite, or even marble has no bearing on the overall value of the kitchen. The most important factor to consider is how the stone will fit into the buyer's aesthetic and lifestyle. A soft and porous stone might not be the best choice for a family with a lot of kids who spill grape juice and lemonade on a daily basis. In such cases, quartzite is an excellent substitute for marble; however, buyers must remember to ensure that their stone is properly sealed if they choose a quartzite that is not technically crystalline quartzite.
Quartzite Stone vs Quartz Stone:
The primary distinction between quartz and quartzite is that quartz is a synthetic material, whereas quartzite is a natural stone. A quartzite countertop begins as sandstone, which is fused with sparkly quartz crystals through a natural process of heat and pressure to form quartzite.
Quartzite is typically white or light grey in colour, but minerals in the stone can impart pink, gold, or reddish-brown hues.
A quartz countertop is made from the same quartz crystals that are found in quartzite, but a man-made process binds the crystal with resins, pigments, and other materials such as glass bits. This process yields a very durable, non-porous countertop material that is available in a wide range of colours and designs.
Quartzite Slab Maintenance
Quartzite countertops, like any other surface, should be protected with simple preventative measures. Spills and moisture should be cleaned up as soon as possible, and coasters, trivets, and cooling racks should be used. Battista also suggests using cutting boards, but not for the reason you might think: "Quartzite is extremely hard on the Mohs scale." When it gets that hot, it can dull your knives."
