Re: Visionary Inventor
Steve is well known for
inventing the Apple II computer.
But...
Did you know he invented
Dial A Joke ?
Steve invented Breakout
at the suggestion of his
friend, Steve Jobs, who
worked for Atari.
The game was built in
Hardware, without Microprocessors.
Steve had built his own
version of the Atari Pong
Quarter Eating video game,
and he showed it to Atari.
They wanted to hire him immediately, but he refused,
intending to retire at Hewlett
Packard, where he designed
Calculators.
Steve Jobs urged him
to build Breakout,
but there was a 4 day
deadline.
He didn't sleep for 4 days.
Steve also invented the
method of getting a microprocessor to produce
Color on a TV.
Steve also invented a
simplified floppy disk
control circuit, allowing
the Apple II to go from
Cassette Storage to Floppy Disk.
Steve essentially invented
the Personal Computer
Industry.
Steve got his video-circuit
know how, from working
for a company called
Cartrivision, which made
the first VCR's.
He said the motor on
the vcr was unusual...
"Another project I did was for a company that came out with the first consumer VCRs, and yes, it was before the Betamax. It was called Cartrivision, and the VCR had this amazing motor in it
with its own circuit board that
spun as it ran the motor. In other
words, the spinning circuit board was actually the electronics that ran the motor!
It was strange.
Huh.
A spinning circuit board
that POWERED THE MOTOR...!
Great Scott !!!
