Why Pick Diamonds Grown in a Lab?

Given that no mining is necessary, lab-grown diamonds are a responsible choice.

The physical, chemical, and visual characteristics of lab-grown diamonds are identical to those of mined diamonds.

Lab-grown diamonds are quite affordable. Compared to natural diamonds of equivalent size and quality, they are more affordable.

What Are Lab Grown Diamonds?

Lab-created diamonds, also known as man-made diamonds, engineered diamonds, or cultured diamonds, are grown in tightly controlled laboratory environments using cutting-edge technological procedures that mimic the conditions under which diamonds naturally develop when they form in the mantle, beneath the Earth's crust. These man-made diamonds are constructed from actual carbon atoms arranged in a diamond crystal structure. Since they are made of the same material as actual diamonds, they have similar chemical and visual properties.

How Are Lab-Grown Diamonds Produced?

The tiny carbon seeds of pre-existing diamonds are used to generate diamonds in laboratories. Modern technology imitates the process by which natural diamonds are formed, whether through the use of high temperatures, pressures, or a unique deposition technique called CVD. After being grown, some synthetic diamonds produced via deposition may additionally be subjected to pressure and heat treatment. Man generated fancy coloured diamonds are developed when minute amounts of specific trace elements are present during the growth phase of the created diamond, just like in nature. The precise composition of trace elements in man-made diamonds, both white and fancy coloured, may vary from that of natural diamonds. Only specialist technology capable of identifying minute variations in trace components and crystal development may tell a man-made diamond apart from a natural diamond.

Lab Grown Diamonds vs. Natural Diamonds

The physical, chemical, and optical properties of lab-grown diamonds are identical to those of natural diamonds, and they also have the same fire, scintillation, and glitter. Lab-created diamonds are incredibly difficult to distinguish from natural diamonds when viewed using a jeweller loupe. Different trace elements may be present in lab-created diamonds compared to natural diamonds, but these differences will not influence the diamond's look. Only testing utilising sophisticated tools can identify lab-created diamonds from real diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds that are for sale should always be accompanied by a gem certification stating its origin.
