Legal Reporting Associate at Reuters

Then you might be the right person to join a new team of specialists being created to research and to cover a wide range of U.S. legal news for publication on Thomson Reuters’ flagship legal platform, Westlaw.

This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career journalist or researcher with a passion for the business of law and litigation and a desire to be part of a high-profile enterprise of strategic importance to the company.

As legal reporting associate you will have key responsibilities as :
• Curate and package stories written by Reuters’ global team of reporters for publication on the Westlaw online platform, pairing text with photos and graphics
• Search U.S. court databases, such as Pacer and Westlaw, to unearth recent developments on legal cases
• Participate in other research projects for the U.S.-based team as needed

You’re a fit for this role if you have below:
• Are eager to delve into the world of lawyers, legal experts and special interest groups and have a hunger to expand your knowledge of the industry
• Have strong communication skills, both written and spoken
• Are passionate about the kind of exacting, detailed work necessary to ensure that Reuters news reaches the world
• Have experience (min. 2 years) with legal research tools or a willingness to learn (extensive training will be provided)
• Flexible to work in shifts as you will work closely with reporters in US & EMEA region

The position will be based in Reuters’ Bangalore news bureau, home to around 300 journalists with a remit to cover almost every part of the globe. It is at the center of covering real-time news on companies, markets and economics and is the global publishing hub for Reuters – where we curate news stories, pictures, graphics and video for readers.
