A parapet is a wall built to protect the edge of a roof. They also help to stop objects and debris from blowing off the roof.
A prefabricated wood blocking solution that saves labour and staging costs on construction projects. Parapet walls are often a challenge for installers due to their complex geometry.
Colour Range
The weather in Australia can be harsh and building cladding needs to be robust enough to stand up to wind, rain and hail. Choosing the right color for your parapet capping and roof flashing will enhance the style of your home or business while also protecting it from water and thermal damage. Ridgeway manufacture custom flashings and capping to your design in a wide range of COLORBOND® steel colours including the new COLORBOND® Steel Matt finishes, which offer a softer look in neutral tones.
Strength
A parapet capping, or roof flashing is used to protect, waterproof and cap the ends of vertical cladding and block/masonry walls. The capping is fixed with anchors to the wall with a minimum fall of 5@ and joints should be overlapped by at least 50mm in the direction of flow. When installed correctly, it will prevent water and wind from damaging the cladding, air barrier and roofing materials as well as protect the structure from thermal issues. This was the case on this project in Cremorne Point, Sydney. Evobuild designed a solution using Colorbond Parapet Capping and fixed it securely, giving it protection for decades to come.
Durability
A good quality roof flashing will protect the end of a parapet wall from moisture and wind damage. Ridgeway manufactures all types of flashings for walls and roofs in COLORBOND® steel and ZINCALUME® steel. When fitted correctly, a flashing will prevent water leaks from forming where it meets the roof sheets and extend the life of the roof and parapet wall. The 'Back-Tray' flashing installed on this skylight in Lilyfield Sydney is an example of how this can be done to reduce leaks and premature rusting caused by water pooling on the roof sheets. This flashing was custom made for this project.
