How might the author's biography (personal background) impact his/her perspective?

The author, Daniel Hundley comes from a wealthy family so he seems like he classist . His view on the poor was that they were dirty and pretty much scum. He did not want to be associated with them in anyway and made sure he let his audience know they were as different as night and day. He even insulted them and made comments on their appearance. 

What else would you like to know about the author or the document itself?

I would like to know what caused him to write this. I know the document mentioned he was tired of the way Northerner's portrayed Southerner's but was there a certain event that caused him to write this? Also, I would like to know if he was able to change anyone's perspective with this document or did it go pretty much unnoticed?
