Mandolin Repair
(Returned Mandolin to "gifter"
Feb 14, 2025.)
After someone tried to snatch my phone
with three grabs last night...
the robber would not go away...
I finally showed him all I had was $3 dollars,
and I gave it to him...
He still persisted...
I stood up, and told him
"STOP TRYING TO ROB ME !!!"
I then went to sleep on the same block.
In the morning, I found my Mandolin had
Top damage...
I pried it up with a plastic fork, and
Krazy Glued it ...
I had to let it sit for an hour, because
the thick layer of glue was slow setting.
At first, the glue line was nearly invisible,
but then I noticed a larger delamination
near the f-hole, and I resorted to more
glue, and more drying time.
I colored the chipped wood with watercolor
markers, and applied more glue.
After it set, I found it had a rough ridge,
so I filled it in with 3 more layers of glue.
Cost : zip.

PS: Text file that Staff (Newstaff) played.
Staff uses txt files (or STD files) that have
Two numbers on each line
The first number is the array index to
the notes, the second is the duration.
I added the backup chords where lyrics
May be held.
Staff will play this at a variety of speeds,
(which may be Saved that way ..)
and the key signature may be adjusted
semitone by semitone.
It's not the most user friendly program,
I wrote the original in 2 days in 2004 as an aid in learning the Bass line of a Handel's Messiah Selection.
I wrote it from a BASIC program that
I had previously written on a Commodore64
to aid in deciphering the rhythms of
Hornpipes and Strathspeys in
One Thousand Fiddle Tunes.

AA to load
give MP3 as the load name,
and you'll be promoted for a file name.
Give it duration 400
Minduration, say ... 50
It will take a couple minutes to build
the MP3.
On android systems, you'll have to
Load and save it in an Audio Type Converter.
Save as mp3, then you can edit it
with WavePad.
You'll need another utility to add an image.
