Starting my headcoach carreer, I had some results in some amateur leagues and I had helped in projects as assistant, and I felt pretty confident about myself looking for a team to take under my leadership.
I posted my LFT, TonyMarquez messaged me and we did a tryout. He liked me, so I thought, and he said I got myself a headcoach position in LPLOL, in the team of Odivelas SC.
In my contract, there was a jersey promised, which still has not arrived, and I have asked multiple times about the tracking code by the moment the jersey is sent just in case when the jersey arrives and I am absent, I can
have someone pick it up instead of me.
I started doing some tryouts, Tony had showed me a multi lolpros from players that seemed on paper really strong. There were people joining the tryouts, and I didn't know who they were. I got myself an assistant, Blacky.
He is more than an assistant, he is the greatest guy I have worked with in a while. We added an analyst, CeruleanRed. A couple of days after the addition of Cerulean, I was pretty sure we were ok staff-wise.
So I asked one of the people joining the call who they were and what their role was in the team. That person was Ego, a strong analyst with a lot of experience and if you see his work you can see that he is capable of a lot of things.
I was okey with having 2 analysts, if they were okey working together. Ego's roles on discord were removed, he was not being informed about the tryout times etc. Nothing. Ghosted, and later on kicked,
because he was working with another team as well, and Tony didn't like it. By ERL regulations, you can work with multiple teams as an analyst or manager, if your contract allows you to do so.
I spoke with Ego and he was mad at Tony for 2 reasons. A) he kicked him, after ghosting him for 2 weeks, because he didn't like that he worked with another team as well and B) because he completelly griefed a roster before my arrival.
According to Ego, the roster was set, and ready to start scrimming, until the time for contracts came. They were unpaid, and the players were missinformed by the almighty Tony. The players had left and the roster building had to restart.
I did my absolute best, considering I had no access to computer and had to go to a net-cafe pretty much every single day whilst I was in my family house, for Christmas.
Players played tryouts, some left, some stayed, some left because they got better offers. We ended up with a roster which I was happy with, and I was missing a jungler, and I had Ocaust by that time, locked, but he was okey if he was
a sub player, so I kept looking for someone with more experience on top as well. To save time, we did inhouses so we can try both jungle and top role. We locked the jungler, we were ready to start scrimming officially, and get out of
the ''try-out'' period. At this time, usually players sign contracts and get announced. Since there was no contract yet, our support of that time got an offer in a league that he wanted to play, so he left. We kept on trying to
find a support that could play up to standard. Some days after the departure of the support, the adc left because he felt his spot was uncertain and he got an offer with a guaranteed offer, and he left.
To recap what has been said so far; Tony has missinformed players, which lead them to leave, and failed to give the contracts to the roster, and back to ''rebuilding''. I was happy with Ocaust, and I was certain he can perform in LPLOL
level games pretty comfortably and I announced that Ocaust will be the main toplaner. The exact next day, 2 toplaners joined the tryout server and Tony said ''try those toplaners out''. A couple of days after, another 2 join and he
was insisting to trying them all out. Reminder, I had already locked toplaner, but I was kind of forced to try them out, due to his ''authority''.
The funniest bit of this part of the story is that after the players joined the server to try out, tony posted an LFT, as manager. The most responsible coordinator OAT.
Going back in time a little bit, when I was joining the team, I had informed Tony that I will be missing on a family trip for about 6 days. Conviniently enough, all the toplaners were added in the tryout server 3-4 days before
I was going to lose any type of computer access. We locked the support player, RaFaL, an amazing player, and a very good person as well.
Scrims were going well, everything was going well, until it didn't. There were 2 issues, gameplay, and inside problems.
We were losing early game, and Tony, as the drafting genius he is, he suggests a complete ChatGPT draft with Renekton Elise Ahri Kalista Nautilus. The suggestion came inbetween game 1 and game 2 of some scrims. I proceed to try to
explain to him why that draft won't be viable, and draft normally. He joins the call, he sees the draft, he leaves and he says and I quote ''ff, We dont have plan for the team, We just play random different styles,
I dont talk more I let this work for you''. In that game, we started very strong, being around 4k gold ahead in 10 minutes. At that point he says again in the chat and I quote again ''We need to train this, but its fine, Do your work,
Just opinion''. As much as I can appreciate people's opinion, I cannot see why does he want his thing to pursue furthermore, when he has given me the head coach role. Also at another instanse, without letting me know
he just randomly messages the support of the team and he says something along the lines of ''yo bro play zac support its broken i saw it in lck'' or something like that. He played it some games, and RaFaL asks me;
When do we play Zac support which I do not like? And I was confused, and RaFaL had to clear it up for me.
Now there was another issue.
Talking about ChatGPT, Tony's english is not the best, but it is in a decent level. 9 days before our official he comes up with a 9 day plan for us to fix our mistakes. That needed 9 days of scrims and analysing, which would be fine
except of the fact that not all the players were free at all days. The message was sent in perfect grammar, vocabulary that he would and could never use correctly, and full of emojis.
From that point and on, that kept on happening more often, and more often. The team kind of split up. A player stopped being vocal in game, started underperforming. When asked multiple times about it, the one time he answered
-in a private call- he lashed out and before giving time for me or anyone to reasonably answer, left the call. Things started going better from a point on, we weren't winning scrims, I was not feeling really good mentally about
the team, so I was a little bit distracted when drafting, but things were going better. Soon I locked in, and Tony announces to me that he is adding a tactical coach....3 days before our first official. I had informed them about 4 days
prior that I would not be at home or have any computer access of any kind, and that we can skip a scrim, since we had a scrim the day before and after that, and they went against what I said, because they said that the ''tactical''
coach can do the draft. The scrim was a significantly lower level than the ones that we are used to be playing and it was a disaster. I was mad at that because the players mentals were already in a weird spot, and I was sure this would
break their mental completely.
I am sure the tactical coach, and now head coach, means no harm, but he got dragged into some shithousery for no reason. Every other day I am learning new things that Tony does behind the players and staffs back.
The level of unproffesionalism that there is in Odivelas is all starts, and finishes, from one person, and one person only.
Tony if you are reading this, which I am sure you are. You are the problem of Odivelas, you and the actions you choose to take behind peoples backs is the reason why Odivelas is not having any relevant success in eSports.
Of course all of the above are my POV, players can have different opinions, staff can have different opinions, but you can always ask former staff members about their experience with Odivelas.
At the very least, I can keep the only positive thing from this entire thing, I got closer to Blacky, and RaFaL, and it was amazing to work with you guys, and I wish we meet again.
Thank you everyone for your time.
