Of the 14 medals won by a graduate of Korean National Sports University at the Olympics, six (42.85 percent) were won by students and the remaining eight (57.14 percent) by graduates. In addition, four (66.6 percent) of the six gold medals won by a graduate of Korean National Sports University were won by students.

 

The athlete who contributed the most is Lim Si-hyun (a senior in the Department of Physical Education) of archery, who participated in the Olympics for the first time in her career. She won gold medals in individual women's recurve, team, and mixed recurve team, winning three gold medals, and making remarkable achievements including 10 consecutive Olympics in women's team events.

 

In addition, Yang Ji-in (3rd year of physical education, shooting women's 25m pistol), Kim Yoo-jin (2023 graduation, -57kg) and Park Sang-won (2023 graduation, fencing men's sabre group) also won gold medals, raising the honor of their alma mater.


Park Ha-joon (physical education senior, 10m air rifle mixed), Cho Young-jae (men's 25m rapid shooting gun, 2022), and Jeon Eun-hye (women's sabre group) were listed as silver winners of the "Paris Olympics" from Korea National Sports University.

 

The bronze medal winners from the Korea National Sports University include Sung Seung-min (2nd year of the Department of Physical Education, individual women of modern pentathlon), Lee Da-bin (2019 graduation, taekwondo women +67kg), Kim Ha-yoon (2022 graduation, judo women +78kg, mixed team event), and Lim Ae-ji (2022 graduation, boxing women -54kg).

 

Kim Se-joon, an official at the Korea National Sports University's external cooperation team, said, "I am proud that alumni, including students and graduates of Korea National Sports University, have helped raise the status of Korea as a sports powerhouse by winning medals in 'bow, gun, and sword' events and martial arts such as taekwondo, boxing, and judo at the Olympics."

 

"I would like to say 'well done' not only to the medalists but also to all the athletes from the Korean National Sports University who showed their best skills at the Olympics," he said, adding, "We will continue the history of the Korean National Sports University, which is recognized as the birthplace of other official medals."

 

Athletes from the Korean National Sports University also won 48 medals, or 25% of the 190 medals won by South Korea at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. In particular, it was evaluated that it made a special contribution by accounting for 14 (33%) of the 42 gold medals won by the South Korean team at the event.
