HughesNet is a satellite internet service provider (SIP) based out of Texas. SIP providers offer broadband internet services via satellites instead of traditional cable or fiber-optics networks. These networks have been around since the early 2000’s but HughesNet was founded in 1995. HughesNet offers speeds of up to 1 Gbps downstream and 500 Mbps upstream.
