About sandwiches
Most food historians believe that sandwich was first introduced in 1762 in England. This dish is the creation of John Montagu, also known as ‘the fourth Earl of sandwich.’ Montagu was known to be a problematic gambler that would spend long hours at the cards table. One day, he got hungry during one of his long days of gambling and requested the kitchen to make something he can eat with his hands.
He was presented with two pieces of bread with meat in between. Since that day, sandwiches were prepared throughout England and then eventually introduced to the world.
