IBM Research AI
Advancing AI for industry and society
IBM Research has been exploring artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies and techniques for decades. We believe AI will transform the world in dramatic ways in the coming years – and we’re advancing the field through our portfolio of research focused on three areas: towards human-level intelligence, platform for business, and hardware and the physics of AI.
We’re also working to accelerate AI research through collaboration with like-minded institutions and individuals to push the boundaries of AI faster – for the benefit of industry and society.

AI Factsheets
In a new paper, IBM scientists suggest that AI services be accompanied with a factsheet outlining the details about how it operates, how it was trained and tested, its performance metrics, fairness and robustness checks, intended uses, maintenance, and other critical details.
Project Debater: An AI system that can debate humans on complex topics
Project Debater digests massive texts, constructs a well-structured speech on a given topic, delivers it with clarity and purpose, and rebuts its opponent. Eventually, Project Debater will help people reason by providing compelling, evidence-based arguments and limiting the influence of emotion, bias, or ambiguity.
Predicting chemical reactions
IBM Research launches free AI tool in the cloud for predicting chemical reactions.
Hardware Accelerators Based on Analog Memory Devices
Scientists at IBM Research - Almaden in San Jose, Calif. demonstrated the software-equivalent accuracy achieved with analog memory for faster, lower power neural network training.
Trusted AI
IBM Research is building and enabling AI solutions people can trust.
