Nanotechnology is the latest technology that is going rounds of the internet. It can serve a variety of purposes and one of them is- how good and protective it will be in the future. And on the other hand, there are research citations where there is a whole different story about this upcoming technology. This technology has not been used in the commercial industry. So, it is a while away that all 3 ply disposable mask manufacturer can go on a full-blown manufacturing process of this wonderful mask. Before it reaches the consumers, it is important to realize a few concepts.

How nanotechnology can be a hit?

I. Enhance individuals' adherence to self-and environment-protective behaviors

II. Promote nano safety research

III. Support the formulation of rules for the recycling of nanotechnology goods and the environmental management of nanomaterials

Nanotechnology: A promising future

Researchers from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) lately announced their reusable nano-filtered facemask technology and Professor Il-Doo Kim of KAIST has quoted that it can easily withstand filtration efficiency even after twenty washes.

Perks

1. Enhanced filtering efficiency post-twenty washes

2. Filtering capacity is much higher and better than that of other commercial masks available.

3. Pocket-friendly option, as masks you need them daily and this mask can easily withstand more than twenty washes

4. Easily eradicate the scarcity of masks

5. The arrangement of nanoparticles is better in this kind than in the currently available kind.

6. It does not lose its electrostatic mechanism under any state not even when unprotected when it comes in contact with water that too after twenty washes, unlike normal 3ply disposable masks or N95 masks do.

The KAIST research team is affirming consent from the MFDS to launch their product for the commons to use and take advantage of this wonderful face mask. Once certified, a variety of 3ply disposable mask manufacturers and N95 manufacturers can simply make these face masks for general use.

Unfortunate Risks

Health Canada did a preliminary risk evaluation and determined that inhalation of nano-form graphene may cause early lung harm. Health Canada has not received data demonstrating the safety and efficacy of face masks containing graphene nanoparticles. After confirmation, it will reveal the fate of this super technology for the common world to use, but if it fails, there will be no more nano-filtered masks available to the commons.

Bad news: Research tells you a different story!

According to Health Canada's preliminary review of the existing evidence, inhaled graphene particles may induce early pulmonary damage in animals. However, the likelihood of people inhaling graphene particles through face masks and the associated health hazards are unknown and may vary depending on the mask design. The health risk to individuals of any age is unknown. The volume and length of exposure, as well as the type and features of the graphene material employed, all affect the possibility of inhaling particles and the accompanying health hazards. Health Canada has requested information from mask makers to investigate any potential health concerns associated with their graphene-containing masks.

Health Canada undertook a preliminary scientific review after learning that graphene masks were being sold with COVID-19 claims and were being used by adults and children in schools and daycares. They may have been supplied for use in health care facilities, according to Health Canada.

The final word

Until the department takes the final word through scientific research and reviews it has stopped all importation of these face masks based on nanotechnology and containing harmful particles of graphene. As to test the filtration rate, these masks were distributed in many daycares and schools, which can pose an issue that has been banned for some time. And on the other hand, Health Canada is taking measures to have written to provinces to stop the distribution of the graphene concentrated masks to people at any cost bore.

Health Canada has further advised people to stop the use of this wonder mask as it contains a wonder nano-particle that can pose lung infections.

Why graphene is so toxic?

Graphene is a unique nanomaterial (materials comprised of microscopic particles) believed to have antiviral and antibacterial properties. Graphene lacks many of the physical and chemical features of carbon nanotubes that make them particularly hazardous. And when face masks are applied, your nose and mouth have a direct relationship with them. And these nanoparticles are ingested directly. And current research indicates that this is not a substance that should be utilized where it could be breathed, without a good degree of safety testing first. When it concerns breathing graphene, the present state of the facts indicates that if the material could get into the lower segments of the lungs or the alveoli it could lead to an inflammatory reaction at moderate-high doses.
