Nikon is quite a famous camera manufacturer that is known for its quality products. The company offers various cameras, and even its mid-range models work well and are not too expensive. These cameras come with a bunch of features and controls, but the best thing is that you can control them via your smartphones as well. But it is not possible to control all the things via apps as DSLRs have most of the stuff on the device. However, there are a few things to control through apps, so let’s look at the Nikon apps.
Camera Connect and Control
Camera Connect and Control is a very stable Nikon app that is specially developed to support most D-series cameras, most Nikon Coolpix, and some other camera models. You can even use Camera Connect and Control to control your camera through Wi-Fi or USB, depending on your device’s model. The app’s free version allows you to do a few things such as viewing images you have taken, control the shutter speed, remote capture photos, videos, and see the serial number. However, you can also purchase its paid version that will cost you $5.99, and add some extra features, including bulk downloads, live view, and many more. The app contains some bugs; otherwise, it’s a pretty decent Nikon app and works well.
Camera Remote Control
Camera Remote Control is a pretty amazing Nikon app that turns your smartphone entirely into a remote control for your camera. Still, the condition is that both the devices, your camera, and your smartphone, must include an IR blaster. The app is specially designed to support various cameras from various manufacturers, including Nikon, Canon, etc. It is really a great app and entirely available for free to use with no in-app purchases.
Helicon Remote
Helicon Remote is quite an expensive Nikon app that is specially designed for professional uses. The app lets you set extra long exposures, time-lapse shooting, use exposure bracketing, get a full screen live view mode, burst shooting, video recording, and many more. But the app doesn’t support the D3xxx lineup. The app will cost you between $48 and $75; however, there is a free version of the app that you should try before buying its subscription.
Magic Universal Viewfinder
Magic Universal Viewfinder is not an app to control your camera; however, you can use it to scout location and plan shoots. The app uses the phone’s camera to emulate the various shots to show you the best possible photo that you can take from your Nikon camera. It lets you alter exposure, and you can even change the aspect ratio through the app. It is a fantastic app for setting up various shots before you take pictures through your camera.
Official Nikon Apps
Nikon offers many native apps to download from the Google Play Store, and all of them are for different purposes. You can use some of them as shopping apps, an image-sharing app, and many more. However, the manual app is quite a useful app for downloading and reading almost all Nikon cameras’ manuals for easy reference. But keep in mind, these apps are not good for controlling the Nikon cameras. We are not recommending you try all the Official Nikon apps; however, you should try the Nikon shopping app and the manual app. The best thing about Official Nikon apps is most of them are available entirely for free to use.
So these are all fantastic Nikon apps that we found quite useful and easy to use. So if you are a Nikon camera user, I will suggest you try a few of the Nikon apps mentioned in this article. Thank you!
