In regard to the similarities between the Declaration of Independence and the Declaration of the Rights of man and citizen they both believed that all men were created equal and had certain inalienable rights. In the beginning of both of these documents this point was made and with emphasis. Both of these documents also make the point that the people that are in power are in power to serve the people. This means that if the government begins doing things that are not accepted or representative of the people then it is become radical and something has to be done. In the time period that both of these documents were written were after revolutions had happened in both countries. The mentioning of this in these documents is essentially referencing that revolt is something that could happen again if the country was put in a similar situation. This is something that is directed at both of these countries and something they hold in common.

One of the differences that these two declarations have is that in the American Declaration of Independence it gives the full reason for why they are establishing their own country. They call out their British counterparts for a host of things like bringing them back over seas to be tried for pretend offenses. Several things are called out like the making of new offices to come and harass the people in America. The last example is the major example we have heard which was taxing without the people in Americas consent or taxation without representation. Another difference in the two documents is the formating in which the declaration of independence is essentially in paragraph form expressing beliefs and reasons as to why America was declaring its independence. The French Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen is written with a list format on top of a paragraph format. This is similar to if America created their bill of rights with the declaration of independence. The French essentially combined the documents and put their own beliefs and views in the mix.
