Silver Coins-Summary

The American Silver Eagle coin is based on a design of "Walking Liberty" created by Adolph A. Weinman. The design was originally used on the half-dollar in 1916, but is considered to be one of the most beautiful designs of Liberty. Silver Eagle coins were first minted on November 24, 1986. They are the United States' only official silver bullion coin. The specifications are exact, and are adhered to diligently. Silver Eagle coins are issued in regular bullion, collectible proofs and collectible uncirculated versions. Collectible uncirculated coins are marked with a "W" to signify their importance and value. These bullion coins are considered legal tender. Their weights and purity are guaranteed accurate by the United States Government, and they are the only silver coin allowed to be invested in an IRA. They have been minted at the Philadelphia Mint, as well as the West Point Mint and the San Francisco Mint.Do you want to learn more? Visit best place to buy silver

The obverse of the American Silver Dollar coin features Walking Liberty. She faces to the left, with the sun rising on the horizon behind her. The year is inscribed on the bottom, LIBERTY frames the top edge, and the words IN GOD WE TRUST are printed on the right side. The reverse of the coin is inscribed with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA along the top edge, and the weight and denomination are on the bottom edge. The center is dominated by a rising eagle, with a triangle of stars above his head, between his outstretched wings.

Collectors typically place a higher value on some key issue dates. The first is the 1995-W Proof Silver Eagle, which was included in the proof set that year for the Gold Eagle. There were only 30,125 of these coins struck, making them a more valuable addition. The 2006-W Reverse Proof Silver Eagle was also included in an Anniversary Silver Eagle Set, commemorating the 20th anniversary. These sets were limited to only 250,000.

The final highly desired Silver Eagle is the 2008-W Silver Eagle Reverse of 2007. Only 47,000 of these coins were struck, and they feature the reverse die type that was used in 2007. The U on the United States has a distinct bowl shape, making them easy to recognize. These coins are easy to both buy and sell, making them excellent investments. They typically sell for the market price of silver. A fee to help pay for the actual minting and distribution is typically added to the selling or spot price.
