'2.8 billion' Klinsmann ranks second in managerial salary... Saudi's Mancini earns '10 times more'

Jürgen Klinsmann, the head coach of the South Korean national soccer team, has been ranked second overall among the managers of the participating nations in the 2023 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup in Qatar.

Qatar Broadcasting Corporation (QBC) released the annual salary ranking of the national team managers competing in the 2023 AFC Qatar Asian Cup on its official social networking service (SNS) on Nov. 11 (KST).

South Korea's Klinsmann is the second highest paid coach at the tournament with $2.2 million (approximately KRW 2.89 billion). When he became the new head coach of the South Korean national soccer team in February last year, it was estimated that his salary would be in the range of 2 billion won, similar to that of his predecessor, Paulo Bento. Compared to what was known a year ago, there is a difference of about 800 million won in the salary disclosed by Qatar Broadcasting.

In September last year, KBS reported that Klinsmann's salary of more than 2 billion won puts him in the highest tax bracket, but because he works from home, he pays only 22 percent withholding tax (including local taxes) and is taxed domestically, meaning he does not have to pay comprehensive income tax.

Since taking over the reins of South Korea, Klinsmann has recorded six wins, three draws and two defeats in 11 matches. He faced criticism at the start of his tenure for failing to win against European and South American teams such as Colombia, Uruguay, Peru, El Salvador, and Wales, which led to him being forced to work from home, but he has since rattled off six straight wins, starting with a 1-0 victory over Saudi Arabia on Sept. 13.

Ahead of the Asian Cup, Korea traveled to Qatar, the host country of the Asian Cup, on Sept. 9 in good spirits after winning 1-0 against Iraq in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Sept. 6.

The last time South Korea won the Asian Cup was in 1960, the second edition of the tournament. After being crowned champions at the inaugural tournament in 1956 in Hong Kong, South Korea won back-to-back titles at the 1960 edition in South Korea, but have been far from victorious since. They finished as runners-up four times, in 1972, 1980, 1988, and 2015.

This time around, the expectations are higher than ever. This time around, the expectations are higher than ever, with captain Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur), Kim Min-jae (Bayern Munich), and Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain) all playing for big European clubs. In addition, Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton), Cho Kyu-sung (Mitwillan), Lee Jae-sung (Mainz), Hwang In-beom (Tsubena Zvezda), Oh Hyun-gyu, and Yang Hyun-joon (Celtic) have been called up, making it the strongest squad ever.

The team, ranked 23rd in Asia and third in the world by FIFA, has been drawn in Group E alongside Bahrain (86th), Jordan (87th) and Malaysia (130th). The tournament kicks off on Dec. 12, but the first game against Bahrain will be played on Dec. 15. The second game will be against Jordan on the 20th and the group will conclude on the 25th against Malaysia. 카지노사이트777

Meanwhile, the highest paid Asian Cup coach is Saudi Arabia's Roberto Mancini. He earns a staggering $28 million, more than 10 times more than the second-place Klinsmann. What's more, Saudi Arabia has no personal income tax, so he gets to keep all of that money.

In third place is current UAE coach Paulo Bento, who led South Korea to the round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, earning $1.9 million.

Vento earns a similar salary in the UAE as he does in South Korea. Bento was willing to re-sign with South Korea, but the two sides disagreed over the length of the project. He wanted a four-year contract to prepare for the upcoming 2026 World Cup in North and Central America (co-hosted by Canada, the United States, and Mexico), but the KFA offered him a 2+2-year contract, which ended the negotiations.

Moriyasu Hajime of Japan, South Korea's biggest rival for the Asian Cup title, was sixth on the list at $1.2 million. Hajime will try to win the Asian Cup after reaching the round of 16 at the World Cup in Qatar a year ago.
