The DEEP WATER HORIZON OIL SPILL happened on April 20, 2010, on the Oil Drilling Rig Deepwater Horizon, which was working in the Macondo Prospect in the Gulf of Mexico, off the shoreline of Louisiana. It is believed to be the world's biggest known OIL SPILL DISASTER. The Persian Gulf War Oil Spill of 1991 was the biggest oil slick ever (not a fiasco), with Iraqi powers pouring in excess of 380 million gallons of oil into the Persian Gulf.
Area OF THE OIL RIG:
• It was situated in the Mississippi Canyon, a valley on the mainland rack, in the Macondo Oil Prospect.
• The Oil Well was 4,993 feet beneath the surface and stretched out around 18,000 feet into the stones on the seabed.

Reason for THE DISASTER: EXPLOSION:
• the evening of April 20, a flood of flammable gas impacted through a substantial center which was introduced to seal the well for some time in the future.
• Because the center was made of a substantial blend that pre-owned nitrogen gas to speed up believing, it couldn't withstand the pressing factor of petroleum gas.
• After getting away through a break in the substantial center, the gas rose to the stage and burst into flames. On the morning of April 22, the RIG upset and sank.
Result:
• There were 11 fatalities and 17 wounds among the laborers.
• Oil covered a 2100 km stretch of the US Gulf Coast.
• An expected 4.9 million barrels of oil spilled into the Gulf of Mexico.
• The passings of an expected 800,000 birds and 65,000 turtles, just as broad untamed life harm.
• BP paid out $65 million in remuneration to the individuals who were influenced by the oil slick.
