But there will be no easing of current travel rules between neighboring mainland Chinese cities Zhuhai and Macau at the moment, from a tourist customer's perspective on the reopened facility, Macao's social and cultural minister, Elsie Aoiong, told a daily news conference at the Center for COVID-19 Response Coordination.
The July 23-29 period is part of what the Macau government now calls the "integration" phase in relation to the outbreak of COVID-19, during which most businesses deemed nonessential are allowed to resume. Mr. Aoying said such a step could be extended for another week thereafter.
By Friday, the city will shut down nonessential businesses, including casinos, for nearly two weeks.
Macau has had a total of 1,795 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of midnight on Wednesday, a regional outbreak that has occurred since June 18. A total of 12 new infections were detected on Wednesday. 경마사이트
Starting June 19, people entering Macau from Zhuhai must present a certificate issued within 48 hours of departure, showing 'negative' results for COVID-19 infections. From the same day, anyone wishing to leave Macau and travel to Zhuhai must show a 'negative' test certificate issued within 24 hours of the scheduled departure date, as well as undergo a seven-day quarantine at a Zhuhai government-designated facility upon arrival.
According to mainland media, COVID-19 infection clusters are currently reported in more than 20 provinces in mainland China, including Macau's neighboring Guangdong Province, where Zhuhai is located. At a press briefing on Wednesday, Aoying said one reason Macau casinos were able to reopen was that their respective ventilation systems were "fit to standards."
"In the case of casinos, the Health Service and other relevant authorities checked them for a long time before the closure, and they found that the ventilation system and cleaning practices inside the casinos met the standards. So they're fine," said Aoi-young.
In a briefing, Lowe, of the Health Bureau, said non-essential businesses should have no more than one person occupying two square meters of space as a general rule that allows reopening. This applies to customers or facility users and excludes employees who can attend.
GGRASIA has approached the city's six game operators and local regulator, the Game Inspection Coordination Bureau, respectively, seeking a clear explanation as to whether these rules will apply to the density of game tables in operation after casinos resume in the consolidation phase.
