There are several different types of Diabetes Blood Tests that can be used to identify it. The most common is the fasting blood sugar test, which measures your blood sugar level after you have fasted for at least 8 hours. If your fasting blood sugar level is higher than 126 mg/dL, you may have diabetes.
Other tests that can be used to identify diabetes include the oral glucose tolerance test, the A1C test, and the random blood sugar test. The oral glucose tolerance test measures your blood sugar level 2 hours after you have consumed a sugary drink. If your blood sugar level is higher than 200 mg/dL, you may have diabetes. The A1C test measures your average blood sugar level over the past 3 months. If your A1C level is 6.5% or higher, you may have diabetes. The random blood sugar test measures your blood sugar level at any given time. If your blood sugar level is higher than 200 mg/dL, you may have diabetes.
