Blind cleaning can be easily done as part of your regular home cleaning routine. However, we recommend having professional blind cleaning performed by our skilled team at least once a year.
Here are five tips for blind cleaning at home:
1. Do not clean your blinds if the weather is cold or damp. Over time, the dust settles, and condensing dust makes your blinds gluggy.
2. Use a soft cloth or a paper towel to gently remove the dust. A soft cloth, paper towel, or duster will do if you don't have one. Socks will work.
3. To dust, vertical blinds hold the bottom in one hand. This will help stabilise the blind. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe the blinds. Start at the top and work your way down. You should wipe them in a downward motion to avoid them becoming unhooked. You can use a soft brush attachment to your vacuum cleaner and a low suction setting to remove dust. The process for horizontal blinds is the same, except you need to wipe from side to side. To ensure dust doesn't settle on areas that you have already cleaned, work from top to bottom.
4. Use a dampened cloth to remove dirt from your blinds.
5. Do not rub the blinds too hard as it could cause damage.
6. You should not clean the interior of the blind mechanism. This could also cause damage.
7. When cleaning, make sure to keep the blinds shut.
