MARKET OUTLOOK
Triton Market Research envisions the market for infertility (testing and treatment) in the Middle East & Africa to witness a CAGR of 6.43% over the forecast period 2019-2027.
Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the UAE, South Africa and countries in rest of MEA have been considered for analysis in the report on the infertility (testing and treatment) market in the Middle East & Africa.
The increase in the initiatives undertaken by the government for the healthcare infrastructure development, growth in the lifestyle-related & gynecological disorders, declining pregnancy rates in women and a burgeoning population are some of the factors that contribute to the growth of the infertility (testing and treatment) market in the MEA region. Despite these factors, lack of awareness about advanced fertilization techniques, exorbitant costs required for IVF procedures, lack of skilled professionals in the field, shortage of advanced IVF methods and ethical concerns are reasons impeding the growth of the market in the Middle East & Africa region.
Microsurgical sperm aspiration (MESA) is one of the types of male infertility treatments. MESA is a surgical procedure that directly extracts sperm from the epididymis and uses it in the In Vitro Fertilization cycle. MESA is performed on individuals who suffer from a blockage in epididymis which results in no sperm ejaculation. This blockage might be due to a previous hernia or vasectomy. MESA does less damage to testis and epididymis and gives a better quality of specimen collection. A large number of sperms can be retrieved using this process and can be stored to be used in future cycles of ICSI. However, it is a very time-consuming and demanding process.
In men, social fear leads to low esteem and often makes the situation worse, resulting in erectile dysfunction and loss of desire. However, infertility is majorly due to low-quality semen or low sperm count. Historically female infertility has always been focused upon, and male’s problems have been circumvented and not addressed directly. Often men take infertility as an assault on their manhood. Such thought processes need to be done away as they act as a barrier to market growth.
