How the Science of Dermatology Spread Through the World

The concept of dermatology started to unfold in 1801 when the first school for Dermatology, established in Paris. It was called the Hospital Saint Louis. At the same time, the first-ever books on dermatology were introduced.

Although the awareness about the dermatology and skincare started to set foot, the real understanding of the science behind it began to spread in 1889. In 1889 the first Congress of Dermatology summit was held in Paris, and dermatologists from all over the world had attended it. From there, a new community was established.

At the summit, the main objective of the congress was introduced as the aim to achieve the best possible skin health for all people around the globe and to increase awareness, communication, and cooperation between different dermatology communities in the world. They also aimed to encourage clinic care, quality education, research, and development in the field of skin health.

After the summit of Paris, four more summits were held at Vienna in 1892, at London in1896, at Paris in 1900 and at Berlin in 1904. By the summit of Berlin, congress felt the need to have international cooperation, as the field of dermatology was advancing. In 1935, the International League of Dermatology Society was introduced at the summit at Budapest.

After the Berlin summit in 1904 and the formation of ILDS, 12 more congresses were held by the time of 2005. In those congresses, many decisions were made like, in 1987, the International Foundation for Dermatology was formed. The IFD works on behalf of the ILDS for the improvement in dermatology care in underprivileged areas by education, arranging services, and public health awareness for the natives.

In 1990, the Regional Dermatology Training Centre was formed in Tanzania. It served as the training place for dermatologists of 12 countries of the African region. There the dermatologist completed a two-year training before returning to their countries. Another Regional Dermatology Training Centre was formed in Guatemala. That place served as a training for the Caribbean region and served for ten countries.

In the last 30 years, the International League of Dermatology Society has been working for the same objective they had in the beginning. The ILDS had started various programs throughout the world to motivated and aware of the population.

The 25th RDTC International CME Conference is going to be held from January 8, 2020, to January 10, 2020, in Moshi, Tanzania. This is said to be attended by many dermatologists across the globe, including dermatologist in Indore and other countries.

Conclusion-

The world is evolving, and so do the field of dermatology. For the last 130 years, the congress of dermatology has been working and spreading all over the world. Though the names, methods, and technology has evolved the aim very much, but it still remains the same-

To achieve the best possible skin health for all people around the globe and to increase awareness, communication, and cooperation between different dermatology communities in the world.
