Salem: She is not gone. She is waiting, sealed away in a place that does not appear on any map that hasn't been burned, sleeping in the way that old and patient things sleep when they have decided that time is on their side. The war ended. She does not experience it as a loss so much as an interruption. Whether she ever opens her eyes again depends entirely on whether someone is foolish enough, or desperate enough, to go looking.
