What else would you like to know about the author or the document itself?

I would like to know more suggestions and more actions he could have take while he was in office. He could have freed the slaves but he wouldn’t because in his they were not equal and not teachable they were not human beings. I would like to have heard the response of the receiving side to see how they could have come up with a solution.

How might the author's biography (personal background) impact his/her perspective?

In Jefferson’s mind no one cared about the slaves at the time. I believe his background impacted his perspective in this letter by showing how he cared more about the states and how he feared them being dismantled because of such differences in views between the Americans at the time. Jefferson wanted the states to remain at ease and realized, or feared what was to come if the act of slavery was to be continued. Jefferson wants and always wanted the best possible outcome for Americans but from the looks of this letter, he needed help in the pursuit of the future of America.
