Gone are the days when people were crazy for HD quality. And we have come across a fair number where people want to upgrade. The best moment of upgradation is by shopping for a 4k set-top box. We will tell you how the world is working then you get to decide whether you need this upgrade or not.

4k is nothing but resolution. And to understand this better we will discuss a resolution

Each image is made up of many small dots, or "pixels." We can see a picture as a result of the interaction of these pixels. The number of pixels that make up the image on the screen is what is meant by resolution when discussing TV or STBs.

Types of resolution

There are two types- 4K and 8K, you need to look closely because it’s very hard to notice any difference at the distance you usually watch TV.

However, since 4K and Ultra HD (also known as UHD) share the same resolution, we haven't yet discussed this format. The resolution of 3,840x2,160 is used by TVs that support Ultra HD Blu-ray and practically all UHD streaming video from Netflix, Amazon, and other services.

Myth1: Both HD STB and HD STB are the same

Several factors will determine whether you opt for an SD or HD set-top box. The ability of the two to display digital television streams in either standard definition (SD) or high definition (HD) is the fundamental distinction between the two. While an HD set-top box can display both standard definition and high definition channels, an SD set-top box can only access standard definition channels.

Myth2: 4K set-top box and 4K smart TV are both the same

Both systems are different. A set-top box can be run on a non-smart TV and you get to see high-quality content without running a hoe in your pocket. But in the case of a smart TV, these are those systems that are often slightly priced higher because of the name –smart.

Nowadays most of the non-smart TVs run on 4k resolution and you can connect STB to give you the best of both worlds. The picture quality should not be the main focus of concern while buying.

And suppose you have an old TV at home that does not upgrade one so it does not support 4k resolution, so you can buy 4k STB instead of buying another TV with smart facilities and 4K resolution.

Advantages:

  1. All of the HD channels in your cable TV package are accessible with an STB.

  2. Include sports bundles, Basic Plus or HD Essentials, plus premium channels.

  3. Have access to content that is available on demand, such as movies, TV shows, events, and more. Some On Demand entertainment requires a fee, however, there is also a tonne of free content available.

  4. Purchase pay-per-view packages and content. Use the on-screen programme guide and the parental controls. The on-screen programme guide will display information for upcoming shows up to two weeks in advance as well as what is presently airing (depending on the set-top box model).

  5. With the push of a button, you may pause and rewind live TV and record your preferred TV shows using DVR equipment.
