Excited to publish my new book on July 31. And, yes, I have a chapter on #gpt3 After receiving tons of positive feedback on my recent talks on user augmentation, I decided to share all my thoughts on this topic through this book. Thank you to all those amazing attendees at these conferences who encouraged and inspired me to write this book. The world is always evolving and adapting, but there are times when a one-time event leads to rapid changes and adjustments. The COVID-19 pandemic was one such event. It is no wonder that many economists call the covid-19 pandemic “an automation-forcing event”. More than ever, Artificial Intelligence needs product sense. AI cannot figure out what problems to solve. If as Product and Design Leaders, we are not aligned with a human need, we'll build powerful systems that lead to more #destruction than #disruption . We have a unique and tremendous opportunity to shape a more inclusive world in concert with AI, and it starts by remembering our roots: finding and addressing real human needs, upholding human values, and designing for #augmentation , not #automation .

I didn't believe it when I first saw it. Just write in laymen terms whatever you want and it will build it for you. GPT-3 is a neural-network-powered language model. GPT3 is neat, but does does it show general intelligence? No way. Here's why: Remember that this model is Really. Big. 175 billion parameters. Plus it was trained on, like, the entire internet! It's seen so so many examples of SQL queries and HTML and poetry, etc. I could describe GPT3 in a very unsexy way by calling it a very excellent content curator that's good at rephrasing. Since it's seen so much, it just has to take a bit of its memory and rephrase it in a way that answers our questions. This suggests an important question: how much of GPT's answers are memorized from the dataset? Since the model is so large, it's kind of impossible to know. The key thing to achieving general AI is generalization. And how well does GPT3 generalize? The jury is out. #machinelearning #ai #gpt3 #naturallanguageprocessing #nlp #ml #mlengineer

Amidst all the incredible buzz around #gpt3 , wanted to talk about one of our intern projects that used GPT-2 to generate Hindi Shayaris. Kushal Chauhan went the full distance on investigating Hindi poetry generation - from simple LSTM models to fine-tuning GPT-2. In particular, he studied how JSD based GAN losses can help overcome issues of exposure bias and overgeneralisation which impede MLE trained models. Further, he used Reinforcement Learning to increase fluency, coherence and meaningfulness of the generated poems by designing rewards focused to enhance each of these dimensions. We plan to publish these results and the accompanying models soon, but for now here’s a teaser video that gives you a sneak peak into Shayari generation.
