The Role & Contribution of A Veterinarian In Protecting The Pets’ Health!

There is a well said axiom, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". And this axiom sounds very much true, be it about human life or about animal’s life. Like Humans, our loving pets do require proper car, nutrition and medical help to stay healthy. As to treat humans’ health problems, there are the doctors; in the same way to cure the conditions of pets, there are the veterinarians.

What Is A Veterinarian?

A veterinarian is a medical professional who takes care of the health and well-being of both pet animals and wild animals. They not only treat sick and injured animals but also diagnose the diseases at early stage and hence prevent them to spread. Therefore, a regular visit to a veterinarian is essential even if your pets seem just okay. Besides giving the medicines to an ailing pet, a vet also gives valuable advice to the pet owners that help them to give good care and food to their pets they need. Veterinarians provide a wide range of services in a veterinary medical centre practice.

The role of a veterinarian is much similar to a pediatrician in many aspects. As babies can’t talk and tell their problems, in the same way animals can also but their behavior speak that all silently to the medical professional and the rest clinical history is obtained from the owner or client. As a pediatrician obtains the medical history from a child's parents, the veterinarian gains it from the pet owners.

When taking the veterinarian's oath, the profession solemnly swears to utilize his or her scientific knowledge "for the benefit of society, the relief of animal suffering, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge." So, their key concern is to control the pet problems and ensure the good health of animals.
