Hurricane Cars

images29.jpeg

Hurricanes are becoming

larger, with giant salt-water

Storm Surges engulfing entire

counties, and more.

Salt water is horribly damaging

to electronics, and wiring.

Salt water conducts electricity,

and causes galvanic action

between dissimilar metals on

electronic boards and connectors.

I once rebuilt the circuit board

of a digital wood-decay meter

that had been immersed in

muddy water, with the batteries

still on... The components

were mud and corrosion caked,

and entire circuit board traces

had etched away. Once I jumped the

missing connections, amazingly, the meter

still worked and tested accurately.

I had to wash, scrub, and heat-gun dry the board, and then replace the missing traces with solid wire. A multi-function switch, and battery clips were replaced too.

I polished the traces, glued the wires down, and spray varnished the board.I cleaned up the case, and sent it back to our Foreman.

The repair took about

four hours, and It would have cost a

private customer $200 @50/hr...

but new meters cost $1000 +....

Modern Cars, and eVehicles

are LOADED with electronic boards and connectors.

If a car gets Salt-Water Flooded...

You are on your own when

it comes to repairs.

Dealers (who can get OEM electronic modules and wiring harnesses...)

Want $300 / hour to ATTEMPT

to repairs your vehicle.

They don't know what's wrong,

They'll just start replacing modules and harnesses, until

they can start your car.

Then they'll re-diagnose your

car for "Standard Repair"

and propose more work.

This could take weeks, if it

EVER gets properly fixed.

and his bargain Aston Martin

V-12...
