Ever have a very thorny complex task,

With so many parts, you don't know

where to start ?

Like: Rebuilding the FBI, or the FDA ?

It's not that you don't know what to do,

it's determining the ORDER of actions

that's troublesome.

The sequence is a geometric sequence: 1, 2, 6, 24, 120, 720,... The nth term is equal to the previous term multiplied by n.

One item : 1 order

Two items : 2 orders

Three items : 6 orders

Four items : 24 orders

Five items:  120 orders

Six items : 720 orders

Twenty Items:

2.432902 x10^18 orders.

2.4 Quintillion orders.

Computers, and your brain,

use a structure called a STACK

to handle this complexity.

Take a Deck of Cards...

52 cards...

Simple, huh ?

Now throw the deck to the ceiling,

and pick up the scattered cards.

It's only 52 cards, but which card do

you pick first?

And the next...?

8.0658175 x 10^67 choices...

Computers, and your Brain, utilize

and re-order stacks in the handling

of complexities.

That's why we have two hemispheres.

That's why perplexed people talk to themselves

That's why people need lawyers

in face of the complexity of the law.

That's why "two heads are better than one."

Our internal STACKS have to be inverted.

I just re-wrote a program that I wrote

30 years ago, on my Amstrad. that does this...

It's very handy ..!

Try it !

Todo currently handles 52 steps...
