Phinneas Rolland is a French-Korean perfumer and the second child of Rolland family. He grew up around luxury watches as his grandfather founded a high-luxury watch manufacturing business, Rolland watch.

But things were different for Phinneas, his interest in perfume started when he was young. He was fascinated by how certain smells could bring back very specific memories like his mother’s flowers in the garden, 'Fish' Smell in the vintage watches in his grandfather’s study room, and herbs, oils and incense from family trips to Korea. What started as a mere curiosity eventually became a passion.

Phinneas studied chemistry at University, where his parents thought he went to study business. He became interested in aroma molecules and how different materials work together. After graduating, he decided he wanted to become a perfumer rather than work in the family business. His family was against it at first but eventually let him be. After his studies, Phinneas started his formal training at the Perfumery School of Robertet in Grasse where he trained in raw materials, formulation and traditional French perfumery.

After working in the industry for several years, under famous noses, he finally opened his own small perfume laboratory, R E N A S C I, it comes from Latin and means “to be reborn” or “to be born again.” It suggests ideas like rebirth, renewal, or a new beginning for his journey.

Despite his family background, Phinneas  is determined to build a name for himself without relying on his family's name.

He focuses on unusual compositions, often mixing traditional French perfumery with rare ingredients.

His first independent fragrance ALONE gained attention in the niche perfume scene, and he became a finalist for the Art and Olfaction Awards’ Newcomer Award, an international award for independent perfumery.
