Rise

Napoleon rose to power and became one of the greatest military leaders ever. As he rose through the ranks until he became Emperor of France, he left a legacy that is talked about even today. Some of the choices and achievements Napoleon claimed as his own actually began years before, but when they came to fruition; he was there to reap the benefits. I think that is one of the reasons he came to power was his ability to capitalize on the work that came before him. One example of this was riding the coattails of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and using it. The next thing that helped him rise to power was the political allies that he made during his time in the military. Because of his military history and legacy, he made friends in certain political circles. Because of his accomplishments in the war and serving, he was given a command of French troops. Even leading the troops, he accomplished even more and more. Because of his military accomplishments, he wanted something to be done and he was doing to make sure he brought change to France. I think also another reason he rose to power was his tenacity. He never gave up. All through the wars and leading of the troops he also wanted more and more. He never quit. He always wanted to accomplish something else. Defeating France’s enemies, making peace with the church, becoming Consul, moving to Emperor. Everything he did was a stepping stone to get to the goal of being the most powerful man in France.
