Philippine gaming regulator announced lawyer Wilma Acema, pictured, is the agency's new president and chief operating officer to take up the position for the first time as a woman.

Icema was sworn in on Thursday at the Malakanyan Palace, the official residence and office of the head of state, as government secretary-general Lucas Bursamin looked on, according to a press release.

The Philippine Play and Gaming Company (Pagcor) is the operator of public sector casinos and the regulator of commercial sector casinos.

The announcement quoted Alejandro Tenko, president and CEO of Pagcore, as saying: "We are delighted to welcome Attorney Wilma Acema as Pagcore's new President and Chief Operating Officer. We know she will be a great asset, and our vast experience in the government and private sector will be put to good use here."

Isma succeeded Anito Sanosa Jr. after resigning as Pagcore president and chief operating officer in January.

Isma previously served as a member of the board of directors of the development bank of the Philippines. Prior to that, he served as manager and chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority. 홀짝게임

In the private sector, she took on a "leadership role" in the Philippines unit of Philip Morris International, PMFTC, according to the release.

She is also known to have held "major positions" in the Chinese Ministry of Trade and Industry and the House Majority Leader's Office.

Pagcor is currently working on the modernization of its casino Philippine chain, starting a process to dismantle its land infrastructure network. The sale of the public sector casino is intended to allow Pagcor to focus on regulatory work.
