Semi-Skinny Dark Chocolate Chip Marshmallow Dip

I can’t believe school is almost over. I feel like it just began. After a year full of goldfish, fruit snacks, granola bars and more for snack time at school and after I am doing my darndest to finish off this last few months of school with a lot of laughter, fun and out of this world after school snacks!

So on this blog we have covered my picky eater problem, my kids don’t like cereal problem and my husband doesn’t like -oh forget it there is too many things to name- problem. So the only problem we have left to discuss is the my kids don’t like to dip anything problem. I remember when my oldest son was starting to eat table food my mom and grandmother would always say “Give him some sauce for those nuggets or ranch for the carrots or ketchup for the fries or salsa for the chips”- and on and on? True, kids typically tend to like to dip things into things. It can be messy and fun and delicious but my kids didn’t and don’t. I thought the ship had sailed for my kids to “dip” until this past week. I gave the whole dipping thing another stab and created the most enticing, delicious, crazy good dip you have ever tried. They LOVED IT! LOVED IT! They went to dipping like crazy and I couldn’t get them to stop! I guess it didn’t hurt that the dip was loaded with bits of dark chocolate and tasted like a mix between cookies and cake batter. Who knows it probably was just a coincidence:) LOL!

I have seen this dip in many variations on the internet over the last year and each of them I am sure are great but this particular dip is in my opinion the winner. It combines a little of each recipe you will find floating around out there. It is what I would call Semi-Skinny because it doesn’t depend “entirely” on cream cheese, butter and confectioner sugar but its not 100% skinny because well we still have some suga’ up in here. Sweet vanilla yogurt, cool whip, a touch of cream cheese and marshmallow fluff stand as the base while the vanilla cake batter mix and vanilla extract add extra flavor to the dip. The dip is outstanding as is but you can’t have a dip without a little something dark and rich- Am I right? That is where the Dove Dark Chocolate comes into play. I grabbed a few handfuls of my dark chocolate pieces and roughly chopped them and threw those delicate chunks into the dip. It added the perfect balance of sweetness alongside the vanilla cake batter flavor and I love the slight crunch I get from the dark chocolate in every bite.

P.S. Score extra points for mom by substituting the graham crackers with apples or nectarines for dipping. YUM!
