What is Instant Coffee:-
Instant Coffee, as the name says, is an instant reliever that comes to your rescue to fight the morning blues. It comes from the dried coffee extract and can be combined in hot water or milk. The instant variant of coffee came into existence several centuries ago, and the credit of the first instant coffee compound was awarded to John Dring in 1771. In 1853, when the invention of instant coffee reached America, it came to be known as “coffee cake”.
Manufacturing:-
Manufacturing of Instant Coffee involves the following steps:-
Step 1:- Coffee beans are cleaned using the coffee machine, to remove unwanted dust, debris etc.
Step 2:- The coffee extract is obtained by brewing ground coffee beans, and it’s more concentrated in comparison.
Step 3:- Post brewing, the water is removed, to make dry fragments or powder.
Two main methods to make instant coffee are:-
Spray drying:-. In this method, the coffee extract is sprayed into hot air, which easily dries the droplets present and then turns them into fine powder.
Freeze drying:- In this method, the coffee extract is frozen and then cut into small pieces, which are further dried at a low temperature under vacuum conditions.
The coffee powder now can be dissolved in a hot cup of water to get instant coffee.
