AR: We will begin now the live transmission for Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity, my name is Aoki Ruriko. I’m also a big fan of the series. We’ll be conducting today’s show alongside our guests. 

AR: What did you think about the fan’s reaction to the trailer Hayashi san?
MR: Honestly, I was so happy it didn’t leak. I’m glad it got such a positive reaction. The previous Hyrule Warriors was more of a spinoff, but this title started development after we were approached by the BotW team, to show the story.
AR: I was quite surprised as well, the game taking place 100 years ago. How about you Matsushita san?
MR: I was deeply moved by seeing many fans expecting this title.

AR: Many people might already know what this game is about, but let’s start with a refresher shall we?

HY: (Explanation about the game taking 100 years ago and being a ‘Warriors’ type title. Nothing new). In this game the four champions as the four characters. 
We incorporated actions from the sheikah slate into a warriors style combat, like the remote bombs, and stasis. Attacks done with the sheikah slate will vary depending on the character. 

AR: So, Hayashi san let’s move on to the hands-on part of the presentation. 
HY: World-premier gameplay of HW:AoC, using link as a playable character.
AR: We have one more guest.
FZ: I’m Furusawa from Koei Tecmo Games. 
AR: Furusawa san will conducting the playthrough, while Hayashi san will give us an explanation
HY: The stage we’ll be showing today is Hyrule Field, and we’ll be showing a new character as well.

============= GAMEPLAY STARTS =============

HY: This is Hyrule field and you’re trying to protect it from all these monsters. In BotW Link was fighting alone, but in this game he can fight alongside other people. 
AR: At this time Link is a soldier, right?
HY: Yes, he’s fighting alongside the other Hylian soldiers. 

HY: There’s something called ‘character actions’, and the actions corresponding to link are some you’ve seen in BotW. You can also surf on your shield, like you just saw. You can see the castle in the distance. 
AR: That’s also the shrine in front of the castle? Can you go there?
HY: We’ll be showing… only this. (laughs)

HY: Let’s go over there.
FZ: This is one of the special skills (spin attack)

HY: When fighting stronger enemies, a weak point gauge will be displayed. You can deplete it by attacking the enemies with different attacks. Instead of going head-on, counters and other skills might be more effective. By depleting the gauge you can unleash a super powerful attack.
AR: So gameplay is similar to previous Warriors titles?
HY: Yes, as you defeat smaller enemies, bigger ones will also appear. You can also use the flurry rush to reduce the weak point gauge. 

AR: You can also get items?
HY: Yes, some enemies will drop items.

AR: The icons on the right show when you complete the objectives?
HY: Yes, and the map on the bottom right shows you where you need go to defeat the next enemy, it uses the same system as previous Hyrule Warriors game.

HY: That’s a secret (laughs)

HY: Let’s go back to the gameplay. During this era, for a reason that hasn’t been said,  Link can use some of the abilities of the sheik slate, like the remote bombs and cryonis. For example you can create a block of ice and attack enemies from the air. Combining character actions and a sheikah stone abilities gives you many options to attack. Now, when this icon (bomb icon) shows, you can launch bombs to attack enemies that have strong defenses and lower their gauges. 

AR: You can throw that many? I was so used to throwing only one at a time. 
HY: Yes, one of the advantages 100 years ago.

AR: The BGM is also quite good.
HY: Yes, some of the music tracks are rearrangements of BotW soundtracks. 

HY: You can use sheikah slate abilities, items, and attacks in many combinations to defeat enemies, something that you can’t do 100 years in the future.
AR: It makes me want to compare this combat to the one in the future.

HY: Let’s try jumping again. That was a bit far. (laughs). Here’s another chance. The enemy was weak to ice, so I used cryonis to lower its gauge. 
AR: I see!

AR: There’s a fire wizrobe! 
HY: Yes, and actually, Impa became a playable character. 100 years in the future she guides link during his quest but this time she can help directly in battle. She uses battle moves corresponding to  the sheikah tribe, like making clones of herself. She attacks enemies and *places seals on them, the more seals the places, the more clones she gets.*

HY: With these many clones you can easily deplete the foe’s weak point gauge, and if you have a high amount of seals, you can deal more damage.

HY: This is Impa. You could only see her back in the gameplay but this is how she looks like. She was Link’s guide 100 years in the future, but we now see a 100 year younger version of Impa, who can use jutsu (abilities) and taijutsu (martial arts).
AR: Her actions are really different from Link. 
HY: Yes, just by looking at Link and Impa you can see the difference in battle style of each character. And there’s many more. 
AR: We haven’t seen gameplay of the Champions, but I’m really looking forward to it. So how did you like the gameplay demonstration? Next, we have some new information about the game. 
HY: The truth is, we have a new trailer. Please take a look.

HY: Did you like this new trailer?
AR: No words. Just ‘Ah!’ after ‘Ah!’.
HY: In Breath of the wild we could only introduce a limited point of view of what happened with the 4 Champions 100 years ago, so through this trailer we wanted to show some of the events and the fights they went through.
AR: I wonder just how much of their story will be shown.
HY: I can’t go into any details (laughs). Please look at the trailer and use your imagination. 
AR: I was surprised that there were some familiar places, and some events that actually took place. We have no time, so I’ll rewatch the trailer when I get home. 

AR: We also have other piece of new information.
HY: Yes, if you have previously saved data from Breath of the Wild in your switch when you purchase this game, you will get a training sword as a gift. 
AR: Will this weapon have some sort of ability?
HY: Yes, It will feature an auto-guard ability for people who want to play through the game easily. It’s aimed for people who are unfamiliar with the Warriors games series. If you haven’t played BotW you should play it and find Link’s memories, to get a hint of the game’s story. 

AR: Of course, they’re related to events that happened 100 years ago. (laughs) And we have one more thing right?
HY: Yes, it’s a Treasure box SPECIAL EDITION available for pre-orders, in limited quantities. It includes: 
- An acrylic art decorative plaque 
- A Metal charm in the shape of the little guardian
- A paraglider blanket. YOU CANNOT FLY WITH IT 

AR: It’s already available for reservation?
HY: Yes. Finally, the game will go on sale Nov 20th for 7920 JPY (60 USD?). The TREASURE BOX edition will also go on sale on the same date, for 16,720 JPY (150 USD?), only on specific retailers. Also, different limited products bundled with the packaged version are also available in different stores. People who purchase the downloadable version will receive the lucky ladle as a weapon. AR: I’m sure there are some questions you cannot answer now, but please let me ask: You’ve told us that the 4 Champions will be playable but can we look forward to their character actions?
MR: The 4 champions are very different from each other, so we had to make different actions that match their personalities. You can see that also in the different play-style for Link and Impa.  look forward for 

AR: The previous Hyrule Warriors game was my first Warriors game ever, but I felt Age of Calamity is is also friendly for people who are new to the Warriors series right?
HY: People who have played Breath of the Wild will definitely enjoy this game, but it’s made so people who haven’t played a game in the Warriors series can also enjoy it. 

AR: We saw during the gameplay some types of enemies, will there be more returning enemies?
MR: Enemies that showed up in BotW will also make an appearance in the game, and although we had to adapt some of them for the Warriors series play-style, we hope you enjoy the ways you can defeat them.

AR: Yes, I thought something similar as well when you used the cryonis in battle. It should be fun to play and combine skills.
HY: We developed the game closely with the BotW team, and they wanted us to bring the battles from 100 years ago with lots of enemies, in a Warriors series style. So instead of just replicating the moves as in BotW, we adapted them to this series’ style to make the gameplay more engaging and more fun for the player. 

AR: That’s especially true when the gameplay starts! You’re being dropped right in the middle of everything! Like in the previous Hyrule Warriors, the rock music is really cool.  The game’s bgm and interface looks like BotW, but when you start playing it you can feel that it is a Warriors game.
HY: We especially payed attention to that. On the previous game, we had a lot of trial and error when merging Zelda and Warriors, but thanks to that experience and to the focus on what happened 100 years ago, we could develop a great game.

AR: It’s less than 2 months until we know about the game’s full story. Unfortunately we are nearing the end of our transmission. Would you like to give a message to the fans?
MR: We are making this game so many people can enjoy it, please look forward to it.
FZ: I think BotW is a living product, that we were granted the chance to work with. Working closely with the development team. I think this game is being 100 times more supervised than the previous Hyrule Warriors title, up to the smallest details.  We are closely following the feedback from the team and I really hope you’re looking forward to it. 
HY: The previous Hyrule Warriors title like I said, was more of a spinoff. I really thought that it was going to be the only title in the series. But we were approached once again with an opportunity to develop such an amazing title. I think many fans will be pleased with this game, and  I’d like everyone to enjoy playing it.
