Have you ever done blinds cleaning before? If no. Don't worry. This is the easiest way to clean vertical blinds. Although this process can take a few hours, it is necessary to repeat it every few months.
Clean the Headrail and Take out the Blinds
The blinds should be removed from the Headrail. You can spot clean the Blinds while they are still attached. However, this will give the Headrail a thorough clean. You can also soak all blinds in the washer or bath at once rather than cleaning them individually.
To get started:
- Remove the Headrail from the Blind Louvres (slats).
- Take the louvers and place them flat on the floor.
- Take the microfibre duster/cloth and remove the dust from the Headrail.
- A can of compressed air is a good option for dust removal in difficult places. To keep things moving smoothly, spray silicone spray on the rails.
Dust your Blinds
Once you have everything in your hands, take the microfibre cloth and gently remove the dust from your blinds. You will need a damp cloth to remove the dust, but you can also use a feather duster or a traditional cleaning cloth. It would help if you worked from top to bottom. Don't forget about areas that you have cleaned before.
Use a brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to remove dust. This should be used on both the top and bottom of the blinds until you are completely free of dust and debris.
Wash Blinds In Warm Water:
It is now time to clean your blinds. You can either fill your tub with warm water or wash them in the washing machine at 30 degrees Celsius. Always check that the blinds can be washed in a machine before beginning.
To wash the blinds in a bathtub:
- Use mild soap, warm water, or another detergent to fill the tub.
- To clean the blinds, gently scrub them in the water.
- Avoid hot water.
- This can damage blinds. Make sure you only use gentle detergents.
Sometimes you may notice stubborn stains on your blinds. To remove stubborn stains, use a sponge and soapy water. Although it may be tempting to bleach your fabric, this can cause damage. To ensure that the stain removal product is safe, test it in a small area.
To prevent fraying and damage, you can secure your blinds by wrapping them in a pillowcase. Use delicate fabrics at temperatures below 30 C.
Put blinds out to dry:
You will need to dry your blinds once they are clean and shiny. Instead of hanging your blinds to dry, you should find a place where they can be laid flat. This will encourage them to keep their normal shape and protect them from damage.
You can dry the blinds quickly by using a hairdryer set to a low setting. The heat can cause blinds to be irreparably damaged if you try to dry them in the tumble dryer.
Rehang blinds at the Headrail
Once the blinds have dried completely, you can rehang them on your Headrail. It would help if you took care of everything, especially when putting every louver back in place.
You will soon have your blinds back in their place and looking fresh. Once they're clean, it's easier to maintain a regular dusting schedule to keep them looking their best.
