Sham and Rot

TL;DR: one of the mods uses an alt account to start fights and then bans everyone involved. I prove that they are the same person. They basically admit at least some kind of bias here:

https://old.reddit.com/user/An_Lochlannach/comments/i3qute/those_here_for_the_drama/

And if using reddit posts to prove something is "doxxing", then that's exactly what you've done in a post that you've stickied to your profile

sham /ʃam/

noun 1. 1. a thing that is not what it is purported to be. "our current free health service is a sham"

adjective 1. bogus; false. "a clergyman who arranged a sham marriage"

verb 1. falsely present something as the truth. "was he ill or was he shamming?"

rot /rɒt/

noun 1. 1. the process of decaying. "the leaves were turning black with rot"

2.a process of deterioration; a decline in standards. "there is enough talent in the team to stop the rot"

Well that seems very apt given what I am about to bring to your attention.

There is something rotten in the mod team of r/Ireland. I'm sure many of you have thought the same. I recently noticed that many people who were here (and elsewhere) complaining about being banned from r/Ireland had run afoul of one particular user. As you may have guessed, that user's name is Shamrot. Let me paint you a word picture of who exactly this person is.

They have a problem with “white boggers”, and want to see them lose power to imigrants.

https://imgur.com/a/sNbc7eR

As such, they are very supportive of other people from foreign cultures coming here.

https://imgur.com/a/D9iGvDo

Whatever you think of that, that's fine.

Well, at least one person pointed out some of the hypocrisy in that thread, and they made a post about it on r/watchredditdie, after getting banned.

https://www.reddit.com/r/WatchRedditDie/comments/i20k1f/rireland_mods_do_not_allow_you_to_say_that_islam/

Well, after having a closer look, you can see that a certain person took umbrage with that comment and called them a “racist piece of shit” for pointing out some hypocrisy? Guess who.

https://snew.notabug.io/r/ireland/comments/i1saq6/comment/g008n4t

Okay, so no big deal. They probably just reported that person, and the mods were needlessly heavy handed, right? It was just a one time thing, right? Well, let's see.

Another user, leviathan_97, made a post very recently. They said that they had been banned from r/Ireland too.

https://old.reddit.com/r/ROI/comments/i2k4xt/got_permabanned_from_rireland_for_a_rule_that/

It didn't seem that they had done much wrong, but banned they were. Who did leviathan interact with in that thread? Good guess.

https://snew.notabug.io/r/ireland/comments/i1xso8/travellers_have_to_hide_their_identity_just_to/g00iusq/?context=3&utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=usertext&utm_name=ROI&utm_content=t3_i2k4xt

A user by the name of SpeedyGallanto made a post recently about being banned from r/Ireland. Who's there at the top of the pile, admonishing them for their sins? You already know.

https://snew.notabug.io/r/Crainn/comments/i1fh47/the_mods_in_rireland_are_absolute_twats/

So why does this particular user seem to be involved in so much drama? How come everyone who disagrees with them gets to feel the wrath of the ban hammer?

At first I thought that they might have a connection with a mod, maybe it was someone they know in real life. Well, they're even closer than that.

So do any of the mods tend to appear in the same threads as our good friend ShamRot? YES. Yes, they do.

Here's one who seems very clued up about leviathan's ban. This is of course in reference to the post in which leviathan had argued with ShamRot.

https://old.reddit.com/r/ROI/comments/i2k4xt/got_permabanned_from_rireland_for_a_rule_that/g05fpf4/

So I decided to check them out.

They're in that traveler thread that Leviathan was banned for too.

https://old.reddit.com/r/ireland/comments/i1xso8/travellers_have_to_hide_their_identity_just_to/g00opu4/

What else? I'll tell you what else.

They have a lot of hobbies and interests, and they've done some traveling too.

They've spent some time in the US.

https://old.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/4eij7l/smith_had_loaded_pistol_inside_car_when_he_was/d20ieb8/

They like Dungeons and Dragons.

https://old.reddit.com/r/criticalrole/comments/farahf/spoilers_c2e97_is_it_thursday_yet_postepisode/fizvcjq/

They like Game of Thrones

And they love NFL

https://old.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/4h5wki/round_6_pick_180_minnesota_vikings_select_moritz/d2nn3i3/?context=3

Seems to be a fan of the Vikings, should have guessed from their username.

Again, no big deal, right? There's some niche things there, but nothing very odd.

Well, let's take a look at our old buddy Shamrot.

Well, would you look at that? They've spent some time abroad too. In the US, no less.

https://old.reddit.com/r/bestof/comments/5suewf/umaximumeffort433_updates_the_list_of_some_of/ddibskt/

They both like Dungeons and Dragons

https://snew.notabug.io/r/criticalrole/comments/bvco9w/cr_media_tales_of_equestria_my_little_pony_live/epovu5o/

They like Game of Thrones. Well, that's not that odd. It was very popular.

And they love NFL

https://old.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/5cfsbt/serious_hypothetically_is_there_a_point_where_the/

These guys are a match made in heaven, right?

Shamrot really loves talking about the Vikings, especially for a Packers fan

https://old.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/56mxh2/game_thread_houston_texans_31_at_minnesota/d8kr55m/

Isn't that our Viking mod friend's favourite team? Well, yeah, he seems to like talking about them a lot. Even has the flair.

Although these two might have a rough time. ShamRot likes to talk about the Vikings, but our friendly mod doesn't appreciate it when Packers fans do that.

https://old.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/5ah0fs/post_game_thread_minnesota_vikings_51_at_chicago/d9gh9sz/

Could you imagine if it turned out that these two were the same person? And it turned out that they were just playing mind games? Who would do that....?

https://old.reddit.com/r/ireland/comments/871o7q/being_a_prolifer_on_rireland/dw9qpgl/

Psychology is interesting to me. I think that “projection” is a very interesting subject within psychology. You know, when people accuse others of the things they do themselves.

https://old.reddit.com/r/fantasyfootball/comments/3qf5hd/week_8_dst_scoring_2015/cwetjus/

By now, I'm sure you've got the picture.

https://tenor.com/view/finkle-einhorn-aceventura-petdetective-einhornisaman-gif-12296163

They're the same person.

Well it could all be just a big coincidence, right?

Maybe one just appears in many threads with the other, maybe they just have the same interests, maybe our mod friend just really agrees with ShamRot and bans anyone who crosses their path. Maybe.

If only we could catch them forgetting which account they were signed into, and continuing on a conversation as if nothing had happened.

https://snew.notabug.io/r/criticalrole/comments/bvco9w/cr_media_tales_of_equestria_my_little_pony_live/epovu5o/

So, there we go. A user with a certain kind of view of the world created an alt account to become a mod of r/Ireland, so that they could ban anyone who even slightly disagreed with them. Why? They've expressed a lack of satisfaction with the r/Ireland mods before.

https://old.reddit.com/r/ireland/comments/5h888z/why_are_the_mods_removing_posts_with_over_5k/dayfib0/

But that seems very minor.

All I know is that a user is trying to push an agenda on our national subreddit, and using their alt account to ban anyone who stands in their way. What you do with that info is up to you. Would be nice if you all could let the good people of r/Ireland know. I can't, I'm banned. :)
