A fun and easy way to join the band! Mouth harps have a few basic parts that can be found in most versions. First you have the frame, which is rigid and holds the arms and reed. The reed is positioned between the arms of the mouth harp and has a trigger mechanism at the end of the reed. The flexibility of the reed held between the rigid frame and gives it the capability of being plucked and vibrate; this vibration produces the sounds. These sounds are amplified when the mouth harp is held between the lips and can distort the sounds produced by the vocal cords, depending on the shape of the mouth and tongue.
Practice mouthing vowel sounds (a e i u). Vowel sounds are the easiest to do because you already know them by heart, and they don't require you to close your mouth. After this you can try doing similar vowel sounds from other languages, and indeed any sounds which don't require you to close your mouth.
At the age of 7, Krivoshapkina received her grandmother's khomus and some lessons in playing it from her mother. Soon she was entering local singing and dancing competitions. But Krivoshapkina's love of the traditional folk songs known as toyug wasn't shared by her peers at a time when Soviet authorities were banning native languages. In 1991, the dissolution of the Soviet Union allowed people to embrace their traditional cultures. We even replaced our usual morning physical exercise with a traditional circle dance honoring the sun,” Krivoshapkina recalls. While she went to university to study music, she did not revisit the khomus until she met her mentor, Albina Degtyarova. Albina is a well-known teacher and promoter of khomus music, who guided Krivoshapkina's musical education and invited her to join Ayarkhaan, an award-winning Yakutian vocal and khomus trio.e11261056185aca3f3831216d14321cc.jpg
All the concerti” are autographed and prescribe the use of several Jew's harps functioning at different pitches, whereas for the lower part Albrechtsberger employs letters without indicating exactly which octave pitch is intended. In the case of the E major concerto there exists a handwritten viola prima” part, which, as it includes all the chief melodic material of the mandora part, is obviously intended as an alternative to this. This impressive Dan Moi derivate captivates with its incredibly powerful and full sound and its modest, well-balanced design. Protect the tongue (the most fragile part of the instrument) from damage. We recommend storing the jew's harp in a wooden case, where there is a slot for the tongue, in which it is securely fixed.256cc330254c6f8adfc7a77472fa47cf.jpg
High-tech drowns the world in a melting pot of cultures. In this feast of miscellany, authenticity often plays a role as wallflower. When reason dances, the magic disappears. In that circom- stance there is a need for music that gets the soul in touch again with primal nature as the breeding ground of life. This brings us to the revival of a tiny, long forgotten musical instrument: the Jew's harp, also known as jaw harp, trump or (in Germany) Maultrommel.
They are examples of a sombre yet gracious realism which became characteristic of British painting, and not only the subject but the presentation has a musical quality which often appears in Lely's very best work. These two paintings, together with three other companion pictures of musicians were previously inventoried in the Craven collection as by Soest. They seem to be identical with 'a Lady, and three (sic) Musicians, by Francis Halls', noted by Horace Walpole when he visited Lord Craven in 1768, and had probably been in the possession of the Cravens since the 17th century.
