How to Use a Coil binding machine?
Coil binding machines come in different variants having a different working process. But, here we tried to elaborate on the basic steps involved in using a coil binding machine. Also, we will talk about some of the features of the coil binding machine, such as purchasing a machine with or without inserter, etc. Here are steps to bind a document with a coil binding machine. But, before starting that, determine what size of coil binding you need to bind your documents.
1. After determining the machine size, you can start with a normal paper. First of all, adjust the edge guide on the machine for the paper size that you have, then insert the page to it and make a punch. Now, check if the holes are lined up or not. If the holes are properly aligned after folding, then move ahead.
Note: If you’re not getting aligned holes on the paper, then check the die pins of the machine and use correct pins to punch holes. Also, check the depth of margin control of your machine. Use a thicker depth for thicker books and a smaller depth for thinner papers.
2. Now, to bind a real project – first, align the front and back cover of your document properly and punch them. After that, set them aside.
3. Similarly, punch your entire project in order. Make sure you don’t exceed the limit of your machine while punching.
4. After punching the entire project, set the project with front and back cover in place. If you’re using a machine with no inserter, then twist the coil into the holes of the pages all the way. Also, make sure the coil covers all ends of the project.
However, if you have an inserter in your machine, then twist the coil into 4-5 holes, and then place the coil against the roller. It will automatically spin the coil through all holes quickly.
5. Now, with the help of coil cutting crimpers, trim the edges of the document. You can watch videos to understand how to use coil cutting crimpers. Well, make sure that the dot is facing up while making the cut, and you should trim the last hole on the right.
Similarly, turn the project around and trim the other side. At this point, you’ll see that you have a finished project.
Well, this is just a basic method of using a coil binding machine. But, based on the machine you choose, the working process can be different. Therefore, we recommend you have a look at the instruction guide of the machine when you purchase it. However, if you’re willing to buy a coil binding machine, then visit Binding Outlet.
