Somatic Therapy is a psychosomatic method of healing trauma. This method focuses primarily on the effects of trauma on our body (soma). Sensations are the language of our body, experiencing sensations is therefore the entrance to processing events. It is based on scientific research in neurobiology. It works where there is trauma in the nervous system. The nice thing about this method is that the trauma/the event does not have to be told (and relived) over and over again. It is being used in 12 different countries with good results.

We all have traumas (tensions) stored in our bodies. A trauma is a blockage in your body that has arisen due to a (violent) event and where part of it has been left behind in your body. This blockade restricts the flow of your life energy. Such a trauma can be caused, for example, by the divorce of your parents, an accident, hospitalization, bullying, physical violence or psychological or emotional neglect. Trauma can also occur after a penetrating experience such as a burglary or dismissal, long-term stress can also cause trauma.
It doesn't matter if that trauma happened recently or in the past. Sometimes a specific event can be identified and sometimes it is an accumulation of different traumatic moments in your life. Traumas are often buried deep in the subconscious from where they do their destructive work.
