Hello everyone, as the title says, yesterday/today, I have watched around 7 hours of a PS4 Pro livestream of the final game on Twitch. Thought I would share my impressions, but you will probably be able to judge for yourself in the coming days: TL;DR: Game is gud

  • The game runs very smoothly, I haven't noticed many bugs or glitches, the only time the FPS seemed to drop slightly was at night in a city.

  • Quality of cutscenes is very good, both in terms of writing (story) and animations. The story (or what part I saw of it) is very engaging while being very "human" and believable. The animations have been significantly improved (you may have seen better animations in some AAA games before, but they definitely don't stand out in a bad way like they did before)

  • Characters (both "main" and "side" ones) are interesting. As an example, without spoiling anything, in a part of the game, you go for a walk with a guard in a town and meet some local people having an argument. The whole ordeal somehow feels very natural and unforced, including the dialogue and choices you are presented with during said walk.

  • The world. It is gorgegous (as we have already seen in videos and the Beta), but more importantly, it feels VERY real. Sometimes, I just thought that if I were to take a very long stroll through the countryside in the summer, it would look (and feel) exactly like this. Also, the weather effects are great (especially rain and thunder). A fun tidbit is that when there are corpses lying on the ground, you can actually see the raindrops on their bodies. Also, when you are inside and it's raining, the sound really feels genuine.

  • A LOT of content. I was a bit surprised to see the opening credits roll after more than 3 hours of playtime after a prologue part of the game which is very story-driven and a bit linear! After said 7 hours, I felt like we were just scratching the surface.

  • At least to me, for the first time, the combat felt really nice and fluid, probably thanks mostly to improvements to animations. There haven't really been substantial changes to the combat from what you have seen in the latest videos, so this will probably come down to personal preference, but I liked it (didn't see any combat while fighting multiple foes though).

  • Probably the most important point is that the game feels absolutely unique and unlike anything we have played before, like a breath of fresh air. It's very hard to describe, but everything I have written so far combined together makes for a very new and fresh experience. It may have its quirks and flaws, but it somehow feels very refreshing. During the gameplay, I felt flashes of Gothic 1 & 2, Mafia I & II (really! Especially in the way the story is being told, just with a lot of options in conversations), even a bit of Choose Your Own Adventure games. On the other hand, in my opinion, the game really doesn't feel similar to Skyrim at all.

  • For the history buffs, the in-game codex is absolutely great.

Now, the (possible) negatives I have seen:

  • This has been already mentioned in several threads, but the world may feel somewhat empty to some people. If you are used to playing for example RPGs like Skyrim, there is a skeleton / dungeon / loot chest / whatever behind every corner, always something to do and the pace at which you explore and go about things can be quite frantic. In KC:D, the "content" feels much more deliberately and "naturally" placed and more spread out. Same with NPCs. Cities definitely don't feel empty or deserted, you just don't feel the "everything is happening right here and now!" buzz. This doesn't mean lack of content, mind you - just the prologue can take you over 3 hours! The whole pacing of the game seems slower and more deliberate (the survival mechanics certainly add to this).

  • Related to the last point, even though you walk through the nature and forests quite a bit, it feels like there are only a handful of animals. I think someone expecting hectic Monster Hunter hunts would be disappointed.

  • There was a minor bug, where in the beginning parts of the game, the streamer went where he shouldn't have and should have ended up in prison, but somehow got teleported outside a city while still having the "in prison" debuff.

  • Some clipping / NPCs getting stuck in weird positions, nothing major, probably to be expected - you want to talk to a quest-giver, he doesn't talk to you, opens a door, walks in and shuts the door in your face. So you walk up to him again and he does the same thing again.

  • The crime system can get hilarious, it seemed like sometimes you can get in trouble even though you are not sure what you have / haven't done (you probably have walked somewhere where you shouldn't have and someone noticed you).

  • Sometimes the items get "fussy" when you want to pick them up, so you need to adjust your position. Same with herbs. Also the animation switching to 3rd person view of Henry while picking up herbs (which I really hate) is still present.

  • A LOT of people are gonna have serious problems with the combat and the game in general as it doesn't hold your hand in any way.

That's pretty much everything I could think of, the post is probably already the longest in this subreddit's history anyway. Not really sure what the reviews will say, but I am pretty confident most of us won't be disappointed. I have to say that I am very impressed.
