The Himachal Pradesh Board of Education, Dharamshala was established in 1969 as per Himachal Pradesh Act. The Board was started with a staff of 34 officials which was subsequently increased to 643. Board order the education syllabus, instructions of courses and text books for school education in Himachal Pradesh besides conducting examinations based on syllabus listed.

At present the Board conducts examination for the following classes and courses: 10th, 10+2 and other exams. Every year 2 to 3 Lakh candidates annually appear in the examination conducted by the Board. Presently more than 7900 schools are affiliated with the Board. It has set up 1846 Examination centers throughout the state.

Apart from some Office at Shimla, the Board has also founded 26 Book Guidance/Information & Distribution Centers in the state to cater to the needs of students.

HPBOSE has published the official notification regarding the upcoming examination. According to the latest notification of HPBOSE for class 10th Board Exam will begin from March. Last year nearly 1 lakh students sat for the examination which began on March 3.

According to the latest information of HPBOSE will declare the result of Class 10th Exam 2018 in the month of May. If we talk about the previous year 2017 the result was cleared in the month of May. But result date is not confirmed as of now.
