Easy Basic Kitchen Faucet Repair

Want help with kitchen faucet repair again? If you prefer to do it yourself and spend a few bucks on a couple replacement pieces, this might be of assistance to you.
Replacing a typical leaky faucet can be as easy, depending of course on what is causing the leak. Ordinarily, but the seals inside of the device have worn out of use and no longer seal nicely enough. This problem is a simple fix as long as you have the right tools ' an Allen wrench, a channel lock or vice grip pliers, and a set of needle nose pliers. A new set of screws, seals, and a metal ball can be found in any local hardware store.
First and foremost it's very important to shut off both cold and hot water lines prior to eliminating the faucet. Start by removing the handle of the unit and exposing a metallic casing indoors. To do so, lift the handle all the way up to observe a screw that requires the Allen wrench. Loosen and remove the screw as well as the handle. The metal housing can be removed too but first use the station lock/vice grip pliers to twist the foundation of the home to loosen it.
After that's been removed you will be able to access the mechanism that works the ball and utilizes the seals. Pull the mechanism out from the stem and you will discover your seals. Typically they're black rubber/plastic and are quite inexpensive (roughly 5 dollars) in most hardware stores. These seals are exactly what must be replaced, and the springs add pressure.
Use the needle nosed pliers and pull straight up on the seals to eliminate them. Replace them exactly the same way with all the pliers to push straight into the slot. If you purchased a new ball which is always a good idea then that may be substituted with the old one. Ensure when you put everything back together that every hole lines up correctly, this is important. Lubricating the seals and ball with Vaseline is a fantastic way to make things work smoother.
Replace the stem mechanism and then tighten the base of the device with the vice grip pliers clockwise. Put the handle back on the stem and tighten with the Allen wrench. Turn the water lines and slowly push the handle up to be sure water comes through. Ensure the hot water is hot and the cold is cold (it's possible to combine the two up with kitchen faucet fixes).
