Background Lore The world of Etros. Two continents the large western fertile continent of Eserim, and the small (“about the size of Japan”) eastern barren continent of Bul’vach. Separated by the Sea of Flames. Dragons originated in Bul’vach. Hundreds of years ago Dragons were everywhere. There were once Red and Green Dragons. They both viewed themselves as superior to other life. The Green Dragons lived in secluded areas, tops of mountains and the bottoms of seas, because they didn’t care to interact with others. The Red Dragons enslaved and ruled over all the other races, even giving birth to the race of Dragonborn from said slaves (it has been confirmed that at least one dragon likes the nude human female form). Eventually the Red Dragons decided to attack the Green Dragons, there was a great battle in the Sea of Flames (this is where it got its name since dragonfire and catch water on fire and during the battle it was all red and green dragon). Most of the Red Dragons were killed and the Green Dragons went back to their seclusion. The Dragons have been missing from the world since this war, but the Dragonborn remain, where they are hated for their Red Dragon origins (Except in Kalveed where gold is mightier than prejudice). Nightingales, purple and silver clad armor, race unknown, mysterious organization from Bul’vach, invaded with an army of Orcs the human city of Satholme on Eserim’s east coast. City after city was massacred. Kalveed is a coastal Halfling city built into mountainous cliffs, and is near a desert, Satholme, and an unknown island. After Satholme was destroyed, Kalveed sent messengers to the other kingdoms for aid, the only one to respond was King Berac Faron of Londongard. During the Battle of Kalveed King Berac Faron only provided his knights, while the powerful Order of Light protected the King inside Londongard’s castle. The battle was lost. Everyone in Kalveed was slaughtered (At least that’s what the story is). Virion (Knight who went to the Battle of Kalveed and survived) forms the Gilded Dawn after the Battle of Kalveed. Gilded Dawn is an underground rebellion to overthrow King Berac Faron and create an alliance to defeat the Nightingales. “About a year” before the campaign starts, “something happened” in the secret tunnel in Kalveed that made it too dangerous to use anymore. Law is a dwarf whose home village/cave and family was extremely greedy and he was sickened by it. He went and lived in a human monastery led by Emperor Dread (Not an emperor, that’s just what people called him). 50 years before the story starts Dread’s son Prince Ragnar (Not a prince, that’s just what people called him) was murdered by being punched to death in the stomach and Law was framed. Also 50 years before the story starts was the last time Law drank alcohol and woke up naked in the mud with Pepe the mischief man sketching him. During the next 50 years Law tried to find out who really killed Ragnar, and ran into a Kobold-commanding villain Barthandelus who he “took care off”, his followers found him later to take revenge, and Law “took care off” them too. Also during the past 50 years of traveling he came across the secluded area where Pomper the dragonborn and is family lived, Law as Pomper’s only exposure to the outside world (except for a shack that Pomper would take food from, but never when anyone was there) and taught him about it, Pomper and Law also planted and named a tree [Bombadil]. Law is currently 220 years old, and Emperor Dread is still alive and is 90 years hold, presumably still in the unnamed monastery. Pomper is naïve to the rest of the world, including its hatred of dragonborn. After his parents pass away he eventually receives a vision from the deity Bahamut that he must close a portal to stop a demon called Nozgoth. Because of these two things Pomper travels into the wider world for the first time. Pomper doesn’t know what a gator is, whether or not Law knows is unknown. Skrit is an old human who was an orphan who grew up living in the sewers of Londongard. He found a secret home in the sewers that once belonged to a wizard. He grew up struggling to read the dead wizard’s magic book. He learned to read and to do magic via studying these books his whole life. He found the words “Yogalla Satarius” in one of the magic books, doesn’t know what it means, but adopted it as his name. Has a cat named Zhi Zhi, and participates in illegal cat races for cash. He’s in debt and left his cat Zhi Zhi with his bookie in Londongard and is trying to earn money with this Gilded Dawn job. Pretty racist against Kobalds, Fish-Men, Dragonborn and Dragons. Doesn’t know what a gator is. Therese Brightwood is a 28 year old elf raised by human researchers. Around the age of 13-14 she explored magic and her parent’s research, she eventually made contact with an “Entity”. She woke up and her house and parents were dead and she doesn’t know if she did it. After that she was a warlock street urchin and has created a familiar that is often a raven. Also from the city of Londongard. Doesn’t know what a gator is. Necator is a 115 year old elf that wants to be the best thief in the world. Was once a Blue Rose at the Thieves’ Guild of Kalveed. He was trying to steal an old ancient goblet but his hubris and idiocy botched the mission and got his three other crew members killed. This was the last straw and he was kicked out of the Kalveed Thieves’ Guild, he has not been to Kalveed for years. He also had a thief dragonborn friend named Chuck that died, whether this was one of the three crew members in the goblet debacle or a different event is unknown. One of his best friends is the Thieves’ Guild blacksmith, an old dwarf named Old Benjamin. Knows what a gator is. All four are strangers and under contract with the Gilded Dawn to earn money, but are not members. Gilded Dawn hired the group to travel from Londongard, through the goblin-infested forest of Illdywn, past the Lake of Tears, to the city of Hethensburg to deliver a message to ask the city for aid. Hethensburg is a majority human city.
Illdywn Forest Episode 1 - 3 It's evening, the group starts traveling through Illdywn Forest with a human named Lars (Former knight, disillusioned after the Battle of Kalveed). They talk about Lars’ drinking problem when suddenly Lars is killed by an arrow. Thinking it’s a goblin ambush combat ensues. The only thing in the cart is a sack of grain, which Lars had for unknown reasons. Law takes the grain and stuffs it into his wounds. It turns out the ambush is actually from Nightingale archers. All but one of the Nightingales are killed and turn into black goo. During the battle Yogalla runs away from the battle at first, but then returns to help, and accidentally starts a forest fire. They follow the surviving Nightingale into a nearby cave to escape the flames.
Kobald Cave Episode 4 - 7 Inside the cave there are sack of grain, Law builds a fort of grain to protect them while they sleep. They awake to the sound of Kobalds slashing the sacks of grain, combat ensues. Law thinks the Kobalds are more minions of Barthandelus seeking him out for revenge. They proceed to explore the cave. They find boxes of small bones, Therese takes a few of the bones. They also find pits full of dead Kobalds in various stages of turning into black goo. Law gets his foot pierced by a trap and stuffs his foot wound with the grain. The surviving Nightingale tries to hide in one of the pits of dead Kobalds. Therese tells the Nightingale to pledge fealty or die, the Nightingale commits suicide in response and turns into black goo. The group fights more Kobolds, Law burns the pits of dead Kobalds and black goo, and then they discover a room filled with research equipment. Inside the research room there is a dead Nightingale with a dagger in his back slumped over a table with a large book. Pursuing the book reveals that the Nightingales in the cave were experimenting on Kobalds, and one Kobald named Moof was too weak for the aforementioned experiments. They gave Moof a job rowing the ferry boat, and hope he’ll die soon. The Nightingale writing the book also believes there is a traitor in their group. Other entries include: “We tried eating a new creature today, we ate some Goblin, and it was better than I expected, would eat again” “Day 75: The Kobalds seem to be resisting our tests we have not been able to find a cure for the disease that plagues us. The Kobalds by and large still believe that what we are injecting them with will make them stronger. They have not gotten smart to our ways yet. I hope we can find a cure soon because more of our men are succumbing to the sickness” After fighting more Kobalds they find four coffins. They find Nightingales covered in green goo. They take off the Nightingale masks to see what they look like. They appear human except their eyes are black, lips are violet and slightly curved at the ends, and the mouth is filled with many sharp needle-like teeth. Law proceeds to stuff his arm down one of the corpses’ throats, and then Law burns all four of the coffins. Then they exit the cave and find the feeble Kobald Moof by a river ferry. They have Moof row them across the river.
First Day in Hethensburg Episode 8 – 14½ Halfway across the river a fish-man named Kuo tries to make them pay a toll to cross the river. Yogalla blows up one of his eyes, and then Law convinces Kuo to join their party. At the other side of the river they find the city of Hethensburg. The Baron is having too much trouble protecting his own city from the Nightingales to be able to help anyone else. Their job was just to deliver the request, so the group will still get paid if they get back to the Gilded Dawn in Londongard. The group, Moof and Kuo enter the city. They find out that Hethensburg has a large wind-powered grain mill that might be connected to the dead Lars. Speaking of the grain, Law’s grain foot is infected and has turned black. Law and Kuo go to the church for healing. A spell with a high chance of instant death successfully cures Law’s foot. Law keeps the bloodstained infected grain. The church, being racist against fish-men, refuses to cure Kuo’s eye unless they go to a nearby Ogre settlement and steal a magic staff OR bribe them 600 gold by nightfall. They go to a bar where Yogalla brags about himself, and proceeds to insult a Green-robed Mage. While bothering the Green Mage they find out that the city of Londongard was razed by the Nightingales and the King Berac didn’t protect his capital, but stayed holed up in his castle with the Order of Light. The whole city of Londongard is destroyed except the castle, and the Nightingales have left it, and it’s cowardly king alone. Yogalla insists on going back to Londongard to save his cat Zhi Zhi. The Green Mage tells Yogalla that real wizards use their magic to help people, and then promises to give a magic scroll to Yogalla tomorrow if they leave him alone, they agree. Therese then uses her raven familiar to eavesdrop on the Green Mage talking with two Hethensburg knights. The knights have a bunch of peasants in a dungeon, the Green Mage wants them transported to “The Academy” so that he can “make something to stop the Nightingales”. Then the group finds a tailor named Jeremiah to make an eyepatch for Kuo. They bust into the tailor’s shop, then Law feeds a cat in the shop the bloodstained infected grain, the cat immediately dies. Law rushes the dead cat back to the church where he has them bring the cat back to life with the same spell that cured his foot. The cat is… different now and the grain has fused with it in some mysterious way. In return the church makes Law promise he will never bother them again. The changed cat is brought back to Jeremiah’s. Then the group decides to have Jeremiah paint a group portrait on the eyepatch, they each proceed to take turns modeling for Kuo’s eyepatch. Yogalla insists on going back to Londongard to save Zhi Zhi. Therese thinking Zhi Zhi is obviously dead and it would be a waste of time. So Therese has her raven familiar shift into a cat shape and tricks Yogalla into thinking the familiar is Zhi Zhi and she followed them this whole way. Yogalla believes it 100%. While waiting for the eyepatch to get done, Yogalla and Moof go to a Library, cast sleep on the Librarian who was just locking up for the night, and go inside. Yogalla forces Moof to climb a bookshelf and Moof falls and hurts his back. Yogalla tells Moof he’s stupid for wanting to climb the bookshelf and then proceeds to ignore his hurt comrade and get a book about summoning pink phantom steeds. Then Yogalla tells the group that Moof “got the rush of burglary” and climbed a book shelf, and that he tried to stop him, but Moof hurt himself anyway. Moof, feeling betrayed about Yogalla’s lies makes up his own lie: That Yogalla attacked him. Law doesn’t know who to believe, so he carried Moof back to the church for “forensic evidence”. The church now has two guards who have been ordered to not let Law in. Law makes a fuss and goes to the Baron to help Moof, Yogalla tags along. The church has told the Baron that Law has been threatening people. Then Law tells Baron that the church and this entire city is corrupt. The Baron doesn’t take kindly to this and throws Yogalla and Law out of the city. Moof is left at the Baron’s feet. Night falls. While this is happening Necator and Therese are getting their portraits done, and are also trying to catch one of Jeremiah’s grey cats so they have a new fake Zhi Zhi so Therese can have her familiar be a raven again. Then Necator and Therese realize they haven’t seen Kuo for a while, they cast a laughing spell on Jeremiah and run off into the alleyways. They follow Kuo’s footprints and they stop in the middle of nowhere by a bar. During this Yogalla and Law are using a Rope Trick spell to sneak over the wall. A drunk man sees them and freaks out, he drunkenly grabs Therese and tells her he saw people on the wall disappear. Therese proceeds to murder the drunk guy. The guards see this, and Necator and Therese run off. The nighttime city is in chaos and confusion over the murder. Yogalla and Law, having seen the murder, panic. They stop by Jeremiah’s house which is empty, no cats, no “changed cat” to be seen, they find Jeremiah dead with a note “You shouldn’t have trusted me, Therese”. Law decides he needs to turn himself in to the Baron so they can tell him that Therese is a crazed murderer and she needs to be stopped to save the city. They take the unfinished eyepatch, it has everyone drawn on it except for Kuo, who’s portrait is only half done. Therese uses magic to disguise herself as a human fisherman named Franklin. Yogalla takes a nap in a bush. Law turns himself in and says he needs to talk to the Baron about the murderer on the loose and is locked in a dungeon. The Baron says he will hear what Law has to say in the morning. Law makes a jailhouse blood pact with Tyrell, a halfing thief in the neighboring cell. Therese as “Franklin” and Necator find Yogalla and tell him that they found a ship to get them out of the city, but before that they need to break Law out. Law decides to try and break out of the jail with his crowbar and sneak into the Baron’s bedroom to talk to him NOW. The guards hear him and Law says the sound was just him “fighting in his sleep”. They don’t believe he can damage iron bars with his fists. Law uses his chi to “demonstrate”, and proceeds to break his arm. The guards decide that, with the city in chaos, they need a scapegoat. So they’re going to hang Law and blame the drunk man and Jeremiah’s murder on him. While this conversation is happening Tyrell steals a dart from Law and uses the dart to attempt to attack the guards to help his blood brother. He misses and hits Law, Law’s heart is broken by this perceived betrayal. They lead Law outside to kill him. Therese uses magic to disguise herself as a guard named “Francis” and leads the group escorting Law to a mirage she cast of the Baron. The fake Baron orders the guards to unchain Law, the guards do so. Law tells the fake Baron that he’ll meet him in his quarters about “saving the city”. The real Baron and some guards comes outside. “Francis” and Necator try and get Law to run to freedom, but he doesn’t. “Francis” turns back into “Franklin” and runs off with Necator. Law then talks to the real Baron and Law tells him that his guards were going to execute him without a trial. The guards deny this and the Baron believes him. Baron tells Law that he will have a trial in the morning. Law is locked back in the dungeon with Tyrell.
Hethensburg Illegal Cat Races Episode 14¾ - 15 1/10 “Franklin”, Necator and Yogalla regroup and decide to abandon Law because they freed him and he wouldn’t go with them. They then see a man putting up “Therese Wanted for Murder” posters. Then they hear they can earn 100 gold by being witnesses in Law’s trial, so they decide to stick around for that. Necator goes to the pub and then sleeps in a stable. “Franklin” and Yogalla find Hethensburg’s illegal cat races and find the Green Mage there. Yogalla lies about not having enough money for the entrance fee. Since Yogalla the “Rascal of Londongard” is famous in cat racing, they allow him to compete for only 15 gold… but if he loses the racetrack gets fake Zhi Zhi. Yogalla ties Zhi Zhi’s green with a yellow stripe scarf around fake Zhi Zhi’s neck for the race. They win, the crowd goes wild. A fat man in black leather with a black one-eyed cat named Ahab responds to Yogalla’s gloating with an offer to race for double or nothing. Yogalla ups the ante by adding ownership of fake Zhi Zhi and Ahab to the bet. They lose and try and bolt, they are stopped. The man in black leather stops them and says they don’t take kindly to people who bolt, so they force them to have one more race. If they win they will get all of his gold, if they lose they will be sold into slavery and belong to the Green Mage who will use them for unknown purposes. Fake Zhi Zhi wins. The crowd is in awe, all except the Green Mage. Yogalla points at the Green Mage and gloats about their previous encounter earlier that day at the pub, and walks out with his two huge bags of gold.
Second Day in Hethensburg Episode 15 1/10 – 17 ½ After staying up all night of cat race gambling they all go to Law’s Trial. At the trial the Green Mage has fabricated evidence that Law is a Nightingale spy sent to Hethensburg to cause chaos and division, complete with Nightingale armor that fits him. Moof is also there and testifies against Law, Therese, as “Franklin” tries to talk to Moof with telepathy and it appears Moof’s mind is being controlled. “Franklin” then uses the four finger-bones she got from the Kobald Cave to “prove” that Law has killed Nightingales, experts confirm that the bones belonged to Nightingales. In the middle of the trial the Nightingale army invades Hethensburg. The Green Mage flees towards the docks. Law refuses to escape and decides to try and defend the city. “Franklin”, Yogalla and Necator decide to flee, and they follow the Green Mage to the docks. They use their cat racing winnings to buy their way onto a ship and get it to follow the ship that the Green Mage and Moof took. The Green Mage owes Yogalla a magic scroll after all. Law inspires some fleeing soldiers to form a shield formation to protect a catapult against a horde of Orcs. After they run out of ammo for the catapult, Law climbs into the catapult as the Orcs slaughter his small band. He launches himself at a large troll in the nightingale army. Law is splattered on the ground. Instant Death. During this “Franklin”, Yogalla and Necator are on the ship, hanging out with the sailors, having a great time, and using fake Zhi Zhi to cheat at cards.
This is Our Ship Now Episode 17 ½ - 19 ½ “Franklin” changes her familiar back into a raven shape. Yogalla, thinking that Zhi Zhi has gone missing, searches for her for three days. During this time Necator drinks and bonds with the sailors. On the third day at sea the crew discover a stowaway, the dragonborn Pomper. The crew wants to kill Pomper (who is trying to explain that he needs to find a portal to close), and Necator tries to defend Pomper (he has a soft spot for dragonborns due to his dead dragonborn friend Chuck), and the crew’s trust of Necator evaporates. Pomper offers to perform a trick, and then Yogalla attacks him with magic missle. Pomper then jumps overboard. Then Therese casts an illusion of a dead Zhi Zhi in the water, which Yogalla fall for. Thinking that Zhi Zhi is dead Yogalla demands to know who tossed his cat overboard. One of the sailors, Timothy, strangely, admits it. Yogalla uses magic to blow the sailors head off. “Franklin” reveals her true form. Necator announces that “this is our ship now”. The Captain tries to attack them anyways and Necator decapitates him and throws it overboard (Pomper sees the head fall into the water, and is now terrified at whatever is going on ondeck). They threaten the rest of the crew (13 sailors), and they all drop their weapons. Yogalla and Necator go explore the captain’s quarters while Therese tries to convince the remaining crew to obey them. Therese epically fails at this, and 11 sailors jump into the ocean to escape the witch. Only two of the sailors remain on board. They find a nude drawing of a woman in Timothy’s pocket. In the captain’s quarters they find a lot of gold which Necator and Yogalla split, and a bird-humanoid golden statue which Therese takes. The statue talks into her mind “You are not the Captain”. Turns out the statue is cursed and now Therese has to kill an innocent human every three days or else she will die. The statue tells Therese that it will tell her secrets, draw her “deeper”, and will be rewarded “in my kingdom”. The statue says that the Captain found it while fishing in the net, and that Therese, like the Captain, until her death. Under the floorboards they find a sack with… the severed head of Kuo the Fish-Man. In the desk they find letters that appear that Captain was trying to blackmail someone. Pomper is in the ocean and casts a spell to walk on water and attempts to save the 11 sailors that jumped overboard. One of the sailors, Martin, tries to drown himself instead of being saved by a dragonborn. Pomper manages to save some of the sailors by casting water walk on them, the remaining sailors grab onto their comrade’s legs, since they trust their fellow sailors but not a dragonborn.
Mysterious Island Episode 19 ½ - 23 Eventually there is a mysterious mist and Pomper and the 13 sailors appear on an island beach. The ship also enters mist and appears on a different beach alongside the Green Mage’s ship. Martin thinks that Pomper wants to kill them. A sailor named Allen defends Pomper, saying that he saved them all so he can’t want to kill them. The sailors begin to set up camp and Pomper and Allen go into the woods to gather firewood. Pomper tells Allen about his childhood and his need to seal a portal. Before Allen can tell his backstory they see a woman with long blonde hair chopping down a tree. She runs away and then they hear her scream. Pomper sends Allen back to camp to get reinforcements while he investigates. He finds a wounded woman, and when Pomper touches her she transforms into a tentacle monster that then grabs Pomper and he blacks out. Meanwhile Necator and Yogalla get their remaining two sailors to carry their two sacks of gold in return for staying alive. The two are quickly dubbed “Gold Boy #1” and “Gold Boy #2”. Therese had sent her familiar to go and try and spy on the Green Mage, after that the familiar has had memory problems. Therese, who’s only friend is her familiar, is distraught that it doesn’t know her anymore. The Green Mage’s ship has a motionless tar monster thing guarding it, Therese informs the group of this, they go back and the Green Mage’s ship has vanished. They set up camp for the night and Gold Boy #1 tells a story about witch doctors that can raise the dead. The Gold Boys also confirm that the nude drawing is of Timothy’s wife, and that they were having marital troubles. They express sadness that Timothy is dead, but they don’t make a big deal about it, because they don’t want their captors to kill them as well. Pomper wakes up in the woods, tied up by a fire surrounded by tar monster things and the Green Mage. Next to him, also tied up… is Moof. The Green Mage tells the tar monster things that he’s going to experiment on the prisoners, and if they fail, he tells them to eat them. The wizard leaves. Pomper casts “command” to get one of them to untie him, and then uses fire breath to melt the monsters, save Moof and run away back to the beach. Moof tells Pomper about how everyone he’s trusted has betrayed him from the Green Mage to “an awful wizard”. “I want to trust you, you seem nice, but… everyone who’s been nice to me… has eventually betrayed me” -Moof Necator and Yogalla, still around the campfire, decide that they’re pirates now, being on an island with riches and all. They hear a cat’s meow from the woods, they order Gold Boy #1 to investigate. He comes back saying he found a pile of gold coins in the woods and they should follow him. Yogalla empties a bag of gold, give the empty bag to Gold Boy #1 and tell him to bring it back himself. Gold Boy #1 goes back into the woods; they hear a scream. The group decides the witch doctors got ‘em and they upgrade Gold Boy #2 to be the new Gold Boy #1. Now that they have a pile of gold on the group and no bag to put it in, they head back to the ship to get a trunk. On the way there they spy an old man in a crude robe arranging seashells who tells them that “I’ve been waiting for you for a loooooong time” Pomper and Moof get back to the beach but the sailors are either gone or they’re at a different beach, they also see an old man in a crude robe arranging seashells who tells them that “I’ve been waiting for you for a looooong time” Pomper’s old man tells him that he’s known Pomper his entire life, all of his past lives, and all of his future lives. Pomper asks the old man if he can help him find his 13 sailors, the old man says that “forces” are preventing that. He explains that a seashell represents Pomper, he rearranges his line of seashells, and explains that Pomper is at the center of everything and that if he moves in one direction or the other all the other seashells are shifted. Pomper doesn’t get any of this, and instead asks what a seashell is (He’s never been to the ocean before). The old man gives “something very powerful that comes with a cost”, it is a necklace of teeth. He explains that it will help him find his friends. If he accepts the necklace he will have one day to find the 13 sailors, get off the island or end the “source that is polluting it” or else the power of the necklace might kill him. Pomper takes the necklace, and the teeth dig into his neck. A tradition in Pomper’s family is to stomp eachothers feet as a form of trust or something, thus we learned that Pomper’s old man has green dragon feet hidden under his robes and is heavier than he looks. Pomper and Moof sprint into the nighttime forest. Pomper gives Moof a dagger. A giant floating skull sees them and they decide to go back to the beach to ask the old man for weapons. The old man is gone, but his seashells are now in a circle. He throws sand at the circle, they create sparks once they enter. Pomper and Moof don’t investigate the circle further, but decide to go back into the woods. Yogalla, Therese and Necator’s old man calls them simple-minded creatures. “One of the most complicated minds in all the land,” Yogalla, takes offense to this. They proceed to trash talk. Then the old man tells Therese that he created the statue that cursed the Captain and now Therese. After more trash talk, the old man decides to demonstrate his power. The remaining Gold Boy is lifted off the ground and spun rapidly, gold coins fly everywhere, and then dropped, leg broken. Yogalla and Necator demand Gold Boy pick up the gold. Gold Boy proceeds to crawl on the ground and attempt to pick up the gold. Yogalla trades the nude drawing of Timothy’s wife to the old man (Yogalla thinks it is the Captain’s wife for some reason) in exchange for a draconic scroll that he says will give Yogalla power if read at midnight when the moon is full and then cast into a fire. The old man explains this island is the “Catalyst for the future” and that in Eserim there is a “revolution” happening and that he can “put them on the winning side”. The old man offers them tons of gold coins, nations to rule over, and to bring Law and Zhi Zhi back to life, but the group is skeptical. The sky starts to rain a tar-like substance, the old man says that he must leave now, and they can make a deal later. The old man transforms into a raven and flies away. While it is flying away Therese speaks into his mind and asks “What has control over you?”. The old man says that there is another old man “like me, but less boisterous” and that they “cut him down” he will help Therese and her friends. The tar rain forms into tar monster things. Therese, Yogalla and Necator flee to their ship and cast grease on the ramp. Battle ensues. The tar monsters are defeated but Yogalla got his clothes and skin burned by a tar net. Gold Boy was abandoned on the beach and thus was badly burned by tar nets. They drag him into the ocean, the salt water burns his wounds even more. Therese decides to slash his throat and offer his blood to the cursed gold statue. The statue changes and Therese’s skin “bubbles” while she does this. The group sleeps in the ship. Therese has a nightmare about her killing the drunk Hethensburg man and Gold Boy. The rest of the group interpret her trying to save Gold Boy, and then crying in her sleep as evidence that Therese had a crush on Gold Boy. Therese denies this. Yogalla searches the ship and gets a fancy captain outfit since his previous clothes (stereotypical raggity wizard cloak with red wizard’s hat) were burned to rags. Therese’s opinion: “You look less ridiculous somehow… and more ridiculous in a different way”. Meanwhile Pomper sneaks past the Giant Floating Skulls and finds the one who is creating them: The Green Mage. Battle ensues. Pomper runs in and grabs his staff and then return suplexes the Green Mage. Moof jumps and comes down on his neck with the dagger. They interrogate him. The Green Mage attempts to kill himself but Pomper knocks the blade from his hands. “It’s not that easy, I need answers”. The Green Mage says he is from a “place far away that you don’t know” where “if you don’t fight, you are killed and eaten by your own brethren”. He explains that they are fighting for survival, there is no central leader, and they are a coalition of people. “If we do not find new land, the dragons will kill all of us… we have to get away. Imagine if your home was constantly ablaze”. Pomper then magically heals the Green Mage’s wounds and tells him that he is giving him a second chance and that he should not fear his evil brethren. The Green Mage gets up and immediately tries to take his staff back. Pomper uses the Green Mage’s staff to burn the Green Mage alive in an infernal. The Green Mage begs for mercy, Pomper replies coldly: “You already had your second chance.” After the mage is dead Moof approaches Pomper and says “We… we didn’t learn very much”. Immediantly after the Green Mage dies, most of the trees in the forest crumble and vanish along with the giant floating skulls. Suddenly Pomper hears a large voice that says “Come”. As they approach the direction the voice came from the earth rumbles as if a giant creature is walking around with no pattern. Yogalla, Therese and Necator also hear this and see most of the trees crumble from their beached ship. It is now the middle of the first night on the island, with a full moon.
