A testimony from Shaykh Abu Mariyah Al-Qahtani:

About the juristic knowledge of Abu Ali Al-Anbari

(2nd in command leader of ISIS in Syria)

Examining the beliefs of people is a characteristic of the Khawarij, a Mujahir would enter Iraq to repel the attacking agressor, but they would ask him “Do you make Takfir on the governments?” “Are the scholars Ibn Baaz and Ibn Uthaymeen disbelievers?”

And in Syria Al-Anbari asked me in one of the military camps to expel the Mujahid brothers from Europe. I asked what the reason was, he said they do not allow the killing of the children of the polytheists (Mushrikeen), I said how??

I said to Al-Anbari you mean killing them consequently not intentionally, the majority of scholars allowed this? He said: I mean that they kill our children by gunfire, so we take a child from them and kill him by gunfire.

I asked him who gave this verdict? He said by Ibn Uthaymeen. I said may Allah bless Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen, his words indicate towards when our children and families are bombed. Al-Anbari said no this is not what he meant.

I said: Ok, I know you do not accept anyone quoting the two Shaykhs Ibn Baz and Ibn Uthaymeen, and many times they make Takfir on them, and you told me that you do not dismiss those who make Takfir on them.

So how can you quote someone about whom some make Takfir on, which you see it as something agreeable and debatable? And even if this were the words of the scholar Ibn Uthaymeen, does his words agree with the saying of the four Imaams (of school of thought)?

And I quoted for him the sayings of scholars about the subject of similar punishment (eye for an eye..) and what is excluded from it. At that moment Al-Anbari became stunned, and the brothers heard our discussion completely.

The brothers asked to sit with me privately, and one of them said to me "By Allah now I know how the Jihad of Iraq and the Jihad of Algeria deviated". And after that the brothers departed Syria because of this deviant Al-Anbari, and there are major mistakes and destructive verdicts spread by Al-Anbari. Like one of the scholars in Iraq said "Al-Anbari is more astray than a donkey."
